Soaring Fertilizer Prices: A Threat to Food Security in Sub-Saharan Africa

Sub-Saharan Africa could experience a 30% decline in fertilizer demand in 2022. This reduction translates to 30 million mt less food produced, equivalent to the food requirement of 100 million people.


IFDC is uniquely capable of supporting all public and private stakeholders to collaboratively develop solutions to reduce the risk of decreasing fertilizer demand and to avoid the impending food crisis.
