IFDC Launches Its First Project in India with Funding from the Walmart Foundation
IFDC will strengthen agricultural production systems and empower farmers and rural entrepreneurs in Telangana State, India, through a new project funded by the Walmart Foundation. The project, “Accelerating Farm Incomes (AFI): Building Sustainable Soil Health, Markets and Productivity in Telangana State,” is designed to benefit fresh fruit and vegetable producers in peri-urban areas. IFDC will diffuse improved agricultural technologies to farmers through good agricultural practices (GAPs), capacity building, and micro-enterprise development. AFI marks IFDC’s first project in India.

“We welcome the opportunity to expand our work and empower farmers and rural entrepreneurs in India,” said Albin Hubscher, IFDC President and CEO. “Agriculture is the engine that powers Telangana State’s economy. Our valued partnership with the Walmart Foundation, Telangana State Government, and other stakeholders will keep that engine running.”

IFDC and Walmart Foundation Reached 70,000 Women Farmers in Bangladesh

IFDC and the Walmart Foundation have worked together for a number of years. The Walmart Foundation funded IFDC's “Accelerating Vegetable Productivity Improvement” (AVPI) project in Bangladesh, which reached over 70,000 women farmers with sustainable production interventions. These interventions helped increase vegetable farmers’ yield and, in turn, the value of their production. To learn more about the AVPI project, click on the video below.
