Dear IFDC Employees,

As we commemorate our 40th anniversary, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of IFDC. The Center’s past and present success is a testimony to your ability to achieve results in carrying out our mission and purpose.

I am honored to announce the release of our latest book,
Feeding a Hungry World, chronicling IFDC’s history over the past 40 years. Our story is not merely one of facts and figures; it is a story of resilience. Author Thomas Hager (Alchemy of Air) interviewed long-time employees and scoured IFDC archives to document the Center’s evolution into a holistic agricultural development center. Whether you recently joined IFDC or have worked with us for 30+ years, I am confident that you will enjoy reading about our beginnings and our impact on food security. To read excerpts of the book, visit http://ifdc.org/About/IFDC-40th-Anniversary-Commemoration.
On Monday, September 29, instructions will be provided on how to download a copy of Feeding a Hungry World (Kindle - $2.99; iTunes - free; PDF). The instructions will also be housed on SharePoint. Paperback copies will be available for purchase. Staff who wish to purchase a paperback copy ($10 plus shipping costs) should contact purchasing@ifdc.org.

We will officially launch the book during our 40th anniversary commemoration event, a daylong dialogue on “Nutrients’ Role in Food Security,” held in Washington, D.C. on September 29. Agricultural development experts, scientists, researchers and government leaders from around the world will gather to highlight IFDC’s work and discuss strategies to achieve food security for the next 40 years.

You can watch a live webcast of the event at http://ifdc.org/About/IFDC-40th-Anniversary-Commemoration. IFDC headquarters staff can view the webcast in the Training Center.
An agenda of the event is available on SharePoint at http://bit.ly/1smgbsi.
Again, I thank you for your dedication to improving food security around the world. Each of you will be receiving a 40th Anniversary lapel pin as a token of appreciation for working so diligently in meeting the challenges of “feeding a hungry world.”
Sincerely,

Amit Roy
President and Chief Executive Officer
