Join Us for a Borlaug Dialogue Side Event

To achieve systemic transformation in food system and consumption patterns, we must begin by transforming soil health. Healthy soils are critical for producing nutritious foods, closing water and nutrient cycles, and sequestering carbon. Land is also the primary source of income for smallholder farmers globally. If we feed the soil, the soil can feed the world.

Optimized use of mineral fertilizers, combined with organic amendments in integrated crop management, is the foundation to achieving food system goals—increased production of nutritious food, increased farmer profitability, enhanced environmental protection, and improved sustainability.

Our panelists will discuss the policy, science, implementation, and impact of fertilizer blends and application for soil health to enhance agriculture productivity and transform lives in Africa.

IFDC Commits to Global Soil

Following the UNFSS, IFDC joined two coalitions committed to improving global soil health as the foundation for sustainable food systems. The Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH) and the United States-led Coalition for Sustainable Productivity Growth for Food Security and Resource Conservation. These coalitions bring together public and private institutions to catalyze action on our world’s most vital resource: the soil.
