You know what I keep seeing?
So many of us are exhausted, overwhelmed, irritated, teary, withdrawn, or frantic - and when we pause long enough to ask what do I need?…
There’s silence.
Or anxiety.
Or guilt.
Or the weird, blank fog of “I don’t know.”
It’s not that you don’t have needs. You do.
All the time.
It’s that you’ve been taught not to listen.
Not to trust what you sense.
Not to matter.
You've probably learned that needs are a problem to solve, rather than a sacred signal to honour.
So maybe you just muscle through.
You keep going.
You meet other people’s needs instead.
You talk yourself out of what you feel...
But just because you learned that, doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it.
Your needs aren’t too much.
Your feelings aren’t wrong.
They are messengers of truth.
Of life.
Of love.
From yourself.
And when you start listening, little by little, everything begins to shift.
You begin to matter to yourself again.
Take it slow.
You don’t have to figure it all out today.
But maybe just start with this right now:
Take a breath.
Put your hand on your belly.
And ask quietly…
If I loved myself, what might I need right now?
And if you don’t know the answer yet...
That's ok.
Just asking is already a powerful thing.
Try it daily this week.
See how it feels....
To matter to yourself.
This month in The Portal of Permission, we’re diving deep into how to meet our needs and honour our feelings with love - and this letter is my way of sharing a little piece of that with you too. If you’d like to hear first when the doors open again, you can join the waiting list HERE.
