Christ’s Commands in Action:

Ira Sankey

Hear God’s Voice

In this episode, we reflect on the life and ministry of Ira Sankey, the beloved hymn writer and Gospel singer who partnered with D.L. Moody.

Through the story of his life, from a Civil War encounter where he was spared by a hymn to the many opportunities that he followed as the Lord led, we are reminded that God works powerfully through believers who cultivate intimacy with Christ and respond in faithful obedience. Sankey’s example encourages us to spend time in God’s Word, listen for the Shepherd’s voice, and trust Him to use our lives for His glory in ways we may never fully see this side of eternity!

Message of the Month

The Revelation Before the Revolution:

George Whitefield’s Influence on America

John Huffman

As we recently celebrated America’s 250th birthday, let’s recall that there was a revelation that came before the revolution. It was the revelation of independence from sin and self through Jesus Christ that George Whitefield preached. This message of salvation paved the way for the other freedoms we enjoy.

George Whitefield, a preacher and an evangelist, was a powerful instrument in the hand of God during the Great Awakening. The Message of the Month for July is “Revival in Preaching” and is a dramatic presentation of George Whitefield by Pastor John Huffman.

George Whitefield preached the Gospel across the American colonies. Through the power of God’s Word, many responded and called upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and were saved. Whole churches and communities were profoundly impacted.

COMMAND OF CHRIST

Be Reconciled

“Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.”

–Matthew 5:23–24

Are we living Christ, not just preaching Him? Robert Chapman, called “the saintliest man I ever knew” by Charles Spurgeon, lived a quiet yet powerful life marked by humility, love, and a deep commitment to live for Christ. He gave up personal rights, pursued unity without compromise, and served the poor and the lost with Christlike love. His life reminds us that true Gospel witness flows not from fame, but from faithfully living Christ before others.
