Commands of Christ

The Commands of Christ and the Disciples of Jesus

Introduction to the New Tuesday Articles

In 2026, for our next study in the “Matters of Life and Death” series, we believe that the Lord has been leading us toward a survey of the Commands of Christ, specifically how His commands have been obeyed and lived out by His disciples. This ministry has produced many articles, messages, booklets, and podcasts on the Commands of Christ over the years. However, we believe there is fresh ground to cover as we discover how these commands of our Lord have been lived out by men and women throughout history who have loved and served our Savior.

Using the same pattern as in previous years, an article will be released each Tuesday and each Thursday. These articles will correspond to a similar podcast series presented on the same theme on Mondays. Our hope is to unify this effort so that both the written articles and the podcast will reinforce one another for God’s glory.

The Tuesday teaching articles that will be posted on our website and distributed to the current mailing list will lay the foundation of a specific command of our Lord. Moreover, the article will also focus on a New Testament character who especially lived out that particular command. We will highlight both men and women, surveying the lives of those who lived during Christ’s ministry on earth as well as those who spread the Gospel alongside Paul and Peter during the time of the Book of the Acts of the Apostles.

MATTERS OF LIFE & DEATH SERIES

The Commands of Christ and the Heroes of the Faith

Who in Christian history saw dramatic spiritual fruit when he obeyed our Lord’s command to pray for laborers? What medical doctor learned to love his neighbor as himself and thus spared many lives? Who was a mother that obeyed our Lord’s command to “despise not little ones” and saw the Lord use her children in a mighty way? We will examine these biographical sketches and see that being Christ’s disciple is a life of daily learning, daily following, daily surrendering, and daily obeying our Lord and Master.

John Wycliffe: The First English Bible

On the last day of December 1384, John Wycliffe died. This servant of the Lord has often been called “The Morning Star of the Reformation.” Like the gleaming planet Venus that fades away with the rising sun, so also John Wycliffe died on the last day of the year and gradually faded away as the Son of Righteousness began to dawn upon Europe, a land held fast in the darkness of superstition and fear.

Recognizing the “Right One”

Many young people today live in a state of continued frustration while they delay in pursuing marriage until the “right one” comes along. Certainly, it is wise to exercise patience and to have high standards for a potential spouse. But what if the definition of the right one is a fallacious one?
