Subject: Hear The Story of Olympic Competitor Eric Liddell!

“Since I have been a young lad, I have had my eyes on a different prize. You see, each one of us is in a greater race than any I have run in Paris...

Christ’s Commands in Action:

Eric Liddell

“. . . them that honour me I will honour . . .”

I Samuel 2:30

“It has been a wonderful experience to compete in the Olympic Games and to bring home a gold medal. But since I have been a young lad, I have had my eyes on a different prize. You see, each one of us is in a greater race than any I have run in Paris, and this race ends when God gives out the medals.”

Eric Liddell

Listen in this episode as we reflect on the life of Eric Liddell and how he lived for something far greater than just an Olympic medal: the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Famous for refusing to run on a Sunday at the 1924 Olympics, Eric honored God’s Word above worldly praise. His trust in Christ was seen in his obedience to honor God’s Word. His gold medal in the 400-meter became a testimony to God’s faithfulness. But Eric’s race didn’t end on the track; he gave his life as a missionary in China, serving others with humility and joy until his final breath. His last words, “It’s full surrender,” remind us that true greatness is found in yielding wholly to Jesus. Let us run our race likewise—looking unto Him (Hebrews 12:1–2).

Message of the Month

The Story of John G. Paton

John Huffman

“You will be eaten by cannibals!”

The concerned outburst from one concerned listener hung in the air. His alarmed response was to John Paton sharing his plans to serve as a missionary in the South Pacific islands.

Calmly, Paton replied to the gentleman, “Mr. Dickson, you are advanced in years now, and your own prospect is soon to be laid in the grave, there to be eaten by worms; I confess to you, that if I can but live and die serving and honoring the Lord Jesus, it will make no difference to me whether I am eaten by Cannibals or by worms; and in the Great Day my resurrection body will arise as fair as yours in the likeness of our risen Redeemer.”

In this Message of the Month, John Huffman recounts the remarkable story of the Scottish missionary who left his family and home to take the Gospel to the cannibal-infested islands of the New Hebrides. Dressed in period costume, John Huffman relates a first-person narrative of John G. Paton’s living through years of danger and perseverance, and his seeing God protect him and open doors of opportunity for him to share with the cannibals the Good News of Jesus.

COMMAND OF CHRIST

Follow Me

“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Matthew 4:19

What does it mean to truly follow Christ? In this episode, we reflect on the life of David Brainerd, a frail and often melancholy man who wholeheartedly obeyed Jesus’ call: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Despite sickness, loss, and rejection, Brainerd chose hardship over ease, taking the Gospel to unreached Native American tribes. Through deep prayer and dependence on Christ, he witnessed powerful awakening and lasting fruit. His legacy, preserved in his journals, has inspired generations. Like Brainerd, may we follow Christ with our whole heart and pray to be used by Christ for His glory!
