MESSAGE OF THE MONTH

To Whom Shall We Go?

Pastor Bob Gray II

Have you made the decision to follow Jesus? Even if it means going against the flow of the culture or the way everyone else is heading, will you follow Him, no matter the cost? If you have decided not to follow Jesus, then whom do you follow?

Consider Peter’s response to Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life” (emphasis added). We are never promised an easy life if we decide to follow Jesus Christ. But that life following Him will be truly fulfilling because Jesus is the only One Who can completely satisfy us.

May you be encouraged and challenged to go deeper in your walk with Jesus as you listen to Pastor Gray’s powerful message!

COMMAND OF CHRIST

Render to Caesar

“Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”

MATTHEW 22:19–21

The atmosphere was tense. People waited with bated breath to hear Jesus’ answer. “Should we pay the tax to Caesar?” was both a politically and religiously charged question. It was asked intentionally to trap Jesus. Would He openly come out against Rome? Would He openly speak against His people, the Jews?

Jesus cut right to their hearts! With profound wisdom, He addressed the question in a way that was irrefutable by either side.

Nate and Gabe unearth the context and background of this often overlooked command, as well as the rich application that this truth holds for our lives here and now.

Trials have a way of changing us, for better or for worse. They can humble us or harden us. They can make us run to God or away from Him. Perhaps your trials have resulted in a closer walk with Him, or maybe He seems far away. Often, God strengthens our faith through the witness of courageous Christians who have gone before us. Be encouraged and challenged by these 12 portraits of faithful women who steadfastly endured many trials—including physical pain, persecution, infertility, loneliness, and oppression—and who, in their various sufferings, found Christ to be an all-sufficient Lord and Savior, steadfast, faithful, and true.
