Subject: The Sergeants Club | July 2025

Hello,

The 2025 Summer of Babies is finally complete at ALERT. My little guy Edward was born just over a week ago, and Anna and I are in the throes of learning how to be parents along with the Bouldens and the Deans. 2nd Phase continues to move through training; they are currently doing special response diving with Capt. Gast and Jordan Harvell (Unit 31). We were also able to deploy the Battalion and a couple of staff guys this month to Kerr County, TX, to help with body recovery efforts after the July 4 weekend flooding, which was a great opportunity for them to have the chance serve in a major disaster zone. Thanks for your prayers for the men while they were deployed.

This month we started a new marketing effort with an agency we were put in contact with by an alumnus from Unit 44. In the first phase of the effort they are helping us produce and publish video content across all of our platforms, which we started posting the middle of this month. The plan is to expand our efforts over the next few months in more targeted social media posting, better email systems, and process automation for lead capture and conversion. We are pretty excited about the opportunity because it is meeting a need in marketing that we have known about for years, but lacked the time and skill to be able to address.

There are several ways you can pray for this effort. One, that we could speed up the footage capture process. They are handling all the editing for the videos, but we have to shoot the footage, and that can take a surprisingly long time. As we get more experienced, I expect that process will speed up, but we’d appreciate prayer for that. You can also pray that the efforts are either successful, or that we will know they are not working and be able to adjust our plans or even stop our work with this agency when our initial agreement comes to an end. Also pray that we would strike the right balance of making engaging content and at the same time staying consistent with the branding and ethos of ALERT. And finally, pray that God would use these videos to introduce the men who need to come to ALERT to the program and the opportunities here, and that more men would come and train here as a result of these videos.

If you would like to see or share the videos, you can find them on any of ALERT’s social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Looking ahead to the rest of the year, we have the fall training quarter coming up, and Sergeant Major and I are currently trying to put together the leadership team for that quarter. Sergeant Major LaBarca is planning on finishing his time at ALERT at the end of the year, so we are also working on getting his replacement as SMaj. lined up. And we are hoping to relaunch fire academy this fall—we have everything ready to go as long as we can meet the class minimums, which we are currently a couple of guys under. We’d appreciate prayer for all three of those things as we continue the work here at ALERT.

Posteritatis commodis servientes,

Captain Samuel Winkler | Unit 42
