Hello,


As we started into the winter quarter, I have been reminded over and over again of the importance of preaching the Gospel to myself every day. I am continually preaching something to myself—through every situation, every conversation, every frustration—and all too often it is not the full Gospel.


Without the Gospel, I do not know who God truly is, I do not know who I am or what is the foundation of my identity, I do not know how to live, how to interact with others, how to teach, how to succeed. Only by constantly preaching the Gospel to myself, through every situation I find myself in, can I consistently abide in His truth. The same is true for each of our men in training. Please pray for us, that we would faithfully and accurately represent God and the Gospel to our men—through every stage of their training with us, and in our relationships with them after they leave.  

I wanted to make sure you all got a copy of the 2022 Year in Review. I am really excited about this particular edition of our Year in Review because it includes our explanatory paragraphs for each line of our ethos. The goal with the paragraphs was to clearly explain and define what we mean by our ethos, and detail how we incorporate that into the ALERT program and the training that we do. We wrote the paragraphs to eventually live on our new website, and would love your feedback on any potential edits/suggestions to improve them before they get published on our site for the entire world to dissect.


I was hoping to send out the link to the dev site for the new website, but we had to push back the launch date due to delays in writing copy for the site. We have had a frustrating number of hurdles the past few months, but we are steadily moving towards completion. Lord willing, I can send you the link in February so you can review the site and help us do testing before it goes live. We have been working towards a new website for a couple of years now, so it is really exciting to be this close to launching our new site.

As the Sergeants Club celebrates it’s first anniversary this weekend, I wanted to express again our thanks for the efforts that you all have put in to help ALERT out the past year. From all of your prayers, to encouraging emails, to advice, to running bookfairs for us, to investing in the Battalion leadership, you all have been an invaluable help to us in the work of forging men. I am looking forward to seeing many of you this weekend, and hope to get the chance to catch up with all of you at some point in the next year.
