Subject: Spring Updates

March 13, 2023

Greetings fellow warriors,

I wanted to share an update with you about the great weekend we had going through the Conquer Series here on campus at last weekend’s retreat. Our group of about 20 men was a mixture of dads, their sons, a number of guys currently enrolled in ALERT, and several alumni. Please pray that the truths learned over the weekend would be ingrained in each man’s heart, and lived out in daily life, as we seek to deal with the root issues that cause us to fall into bondage to pornography. Pray that there would be much fruit from the retreat!

I also wanted to give you an update on an important need coming next month. Are you in a position to give anywhere from 10 to 14 days to support ALERT in a very tangible way? We are looking for a group of guys (about 7) to serve with us at this year’s Outdoors Sporting Festival in the Fort Worth area. We will be setting up fencing, shooting ranges, dirt tracks and the like for a weekend festival, and helping tear down after the event, and I need men to help out. Here are the details:

  • We’ll need a small team of guys April 24-27 to help with initial prep. Beginning April 27, I’ll need the entire team. You must be 18 or over to fill these positions.

  • The final day of work is May 10, 2023.

  • We are provided with wonderful accommodations (an Airbnb), and the cost of all your meals is covered.

  • Your transportation to and from work each day is also covered.

  • You would not necessarily need to be there the entire time, but I’m first looking for guys that could commit to most of it. Depending on how far you’re coming we might be able to negotiate some gas money as well.

  • In addition to the work, evenings will be times of good fellowship and interaction, with regular time in the Word as a group.

  • In exchange for our work, the festival organizers give a substantial monetary donation to ALERT that helps keep our program affordable.

Please note: I’m looking for guys who want to engage in all aspects of this event. If you’re the type of guy that considers his cell phone his best buddy, then you may not be the best fit. I need guys that will be focused on the work, guys that are mature, and guys that can be trusted driving carts or ATV’s safely. Call if you need more details and/or a possible interview. I may not be able to take every man, but I'm hoping we can fill the slots needed and help out again this year.

As always, contact me if you have any questions.

Blessings,

Colonel Marv Behr
