As we continue to monitor the measles situation on campus, I thought I would pass along some helpful information as news spreads outside of the campus and people might have questions or concerns as to ALERT's response. At this time, we do know of outside individuals who have contacted the Regional Health Department about the situation here on campus.
The following is what I have informed my staff to convey to those outside the ministry who might have questions.
Staff talking points: As soon as we became aware of a possible measles case, we contacted the Texas Regional Health Department regarding this potential case. ALERT immediately contacted anyone we felt could have incidentally been exposed to this case, and advised them to take precautionary measures to contain the illness. With the guidance of the Regional Health Department, we have implemented care and preventative measures for the health of our student body and the well-being of our community. We are continuing to work closely with our Regional Health Department to contain the disease and prevent further spread. We are grateful for the support and advice from our local authorities. Because of student confidentiality, we are unable to share any further information at this time. Please direct any further questions to the Texas Department of State Health Services; Public Health Region 4/5N. Email: region4-5epi@dshs.texas.gov If you have any questions or concerns about ALERT's response to this situation, please direct your questions to Jesse Boulden, Daniel Hawley, Samuel Winkler or Dillon Whitaker.
