Subject: COVID-19 Update from Col. Behr

March 2020

Dear Partners of ALERT,

As you can imagine these are some challenging days for our staff as we join so many others in walking through changes of lifestyle and programming in response to the COVID-19.

Let me give you an update: We found it necessary to cancel our Unit 63 Basic training which was to start this Friday. Concerns about so many men coming from various parts of the country and the inability to safely perform extensive health screening made this a necessity. We are hoping most of these men will transfer their applications to the fall Basic Training.

We are continuing our Advanced Training since most of the men were already on campus. Things change daily so pray with us that we can stay the course and see these men complete their training in May. We have implemented a number of hygienic protocols that we trust will be helpful in keeping our men as safe as possible.

Deployments: On a more encouraging side we have been blessed to assist in a number of deployments this year already with Samaritan’s Purse. In January we sent a team to Mississippi to respond to tornado damage in DeSoto County. There were also four teams working on building and rebuilding projects for people whose homes were lost or damaged during hurricane Harvey - two teams worked in Pearland, Texas and two in LaGrange, Texas. Future deployments are obviously uncertain but we are praying we can continue to reach out in some way to those in need.

Thank you all for your tremendous support over these years. We need your prayers more than ever during this time. Please remember that this request is always reciprocal. If you are personally facing a crisis of some sort please email me at mbehr@alertacademy.com so we can add you to our daily noon prayer meeting. I’ve attached a video that we trust will be somewhat of an encouragement to you. The information shared is much of what you’ve heard already on recent news but nevertheless I trust the spirit in which it is shared by not only a doctor, but a brother in the Lord will be a blessing.

In Christ,
