Subject: ALERT Update | September 26, 2023

September 26, 2023

I have lived just long enough to learn two truths about life:

First, life is hard. It always has been, and it always will be. Life is hard, whether due to our poor choices or as a result of living in a sinful and broken world. There is no getting out of it. There is no getting around it. Expecting life to be anything otherwise is a fool's errand.

Second, hardship is not something to be avoided. It's not something to run from. It's not something to numb our way out of. Through hardship comes resilience, maturity, wisdom, perspective, and growth that would have otherwise been missed.

Does this mean that we invite hardship, or intentionally make our lives harder? Of course not. It means that when hard times come—and they will—we change how we view them. We change our expectations and our perception of them, and we look forward to the growth that God will bring to our lives through that hardship.

Stand strong,
