Training helps us create realistic expectations for what is to come. That's why we train. Because we know that in the world, a situation may arise where a specific set of skills is required, and where is a better place to learn those skills than in a calm environment that gradually escalates to realistic levels?

However, there is another aspect of training that is often overlooked. The significance of speaking to God about a situation and seeking His guidance on how He wants you to respond. This approach prepares you for what to do and helps you understand why your actions are meaningful and how they can glorify God when you find yourself in that situation.

You have the ability to act, as well as the conviction. So when screams, smells, and adrenaline tell you not to go into that situation, you can fall back upon how you were trained to lean into those feelings and act with conviction and skill in a world that often lacks both.
