The sixth point of ALERT's ethos reads, "service focuses a man." We believe that spending time and effort serving others helps to shift our focus off of ourselves and onto those around us. When I was growing up, my pastor would often say, "See the need, be the change." When we see needs around us, God may be calling us to meet them. If not me, then who? If not now, then when? Everywhere around us are people in need, and God has given us the opportunity to serve them both here at ALERT and all over the world. What better way to zero in our focus on what really matters than by going out, being the change, and living a life of service?
