Subject: ALERT Communiqué | January 2019

January 2019

Dear partners of the International ALERT Academy:

We are well into 2019 and I wanted to give a brief summary of our past year to enable you to have a better understanding of the impact your gifts have made in the lives of others.

  •  We had 79 men enter into ALERT training this past year. Financial needs are great for a number of them and their families, and your support enabled us to distribute over $33,000 in scholarships for various aspects of training.
  • In addition to our second phase Emergency Response Training (ERT), we held the following classes for third phase Advanced Training: Flight, Leadership, Mobile Response Team, Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT), Emergency Services Operation, (ESO), Tech Rescue, Aquatics and Cadre leadership.
  • Deployments and community service were major parts of our training. ALERT sent teams of men to nine disaster recovery sites, eleven community service projects, fifteen color guard presentations and five different chorus performances. What a privilege it was to serve so many and to be a part in seeing the gospel carried to countless homeowners.
  • Our four week summer program for young men (QUEST) had 72 enrollees and the three week summer program for young ladies (STEP) had 40 in attendance. We also have an ongoing ALERT Cadet discipleship program for fathers and sons that minsters to many families across the nation.
We are excited about the year 2019 and what God will bring across our path. A large group of men have already deployed to Panama City, Florida to help with the ongoing recovery efforts from the devastating effects of Hurricane Michael. Over 50 people have come to faith in Christ as a result of efforts there by ministry minded organizations like ALERT and we are so grateful to be a part of the work. Plans are in place to send two more teams to that area at the end of February and early March.
Beyond all the training and deployments however lies the heart of our ministry: “Forging Extraordinary Men Who Will Influence Their World For Christ.” Discipleship is a critical and a foundational part of our program and without it we can unintentionally get so focused on vocational skills and serving others that we neglect the importance of developing personal holiness that will truly impact every part of life, the lives of our families and those around us. I praise God for a staff that has a heart to see men grow in their walk with God and we covet your prayers as we continue this journey in bringing individuals to a deeper walk with Christ.
The year 2019 looks to be very busy and we desire that in all the challenges and travel God would be glorified in our every action. This February 15-17, 2019 we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary of training and service. Please consider joining us for part or all of the weekend. We have great speakers and activities planned and it would be an excellent opportunity for you to see firsthand the work that is being accomplished through your gifts. Thanks so much for your ongoing partnership with us and your faithful support. Always feel free to call me to talk more about the programs we offer as well as any personal prayer requests you may have that we can be a part of in our daily noon prayer time.

In Him,
