Subject: ALERT Alumni Update | March 2023

March 29, 2023

Dear Alumni,

Our winter training quarter wrapped up nicely the beginning of the month, and we jumped right into the next one. With six 3rd Phases running, and Unit 68 starting Basic Training last Thursday, we are looking at another busy training semester. In addition to our EMT, Flight, Cadre, and Missions programs, we are excited to re-launch two more training options this quarter—our Dive program and our Construction program. We have 36 men in the battalion and 35 men currently in Unit 68.

Next week we will be filming interviews for a documentary for ALERT’s 30th anniversary next February. We have each of the former directors coming, as well as a selection of alumni from across the years. The video will premiere at the reunion next year (February 8-11, 2024), so make sure you block those dates out on the calendar and join us here in Big Sandy for that event.

If you would like to be involved in any of our training this quarter, please do not hesitate to reach out, even if you'd just like to swing by for an afternoon. We love being able to use our Alumni either as subject matter experts or give them a platform to share their testimony or life story with the men in training. Our current EMT class has eight different alumni on the roster as instructors, and each of our training options has space for alumni to come in and help teach.

Another area where some of you might want to be involved would be the ALERT Cadet program. Many of us, myself included, grew up as Cadets because that was the closeted thing we could get to being ALERT men at that age. We saw something in those guys in the late 90s and early 2000s that cast a vision for us years later, and it's still bearing fruit today. We have Cadet Units all over the US, and I am sure they would love for an ALERT guy to visit their monthly meeting to encourage, help with some training, or be an "older brother" figure to those young men. If you are interested, please get in touch with Lt. Col. Doug Dagarin, who is the Executive Officer of the Cadet Program. His email is dougdagarin@gmail.com.

Please continue to pray for us as we seek to forge men for the kingdom. Pray for wisdom for our young leaders. Pray for safety in our training. And pray most of all that Christ would be magnified and glorified in our training and that His will would be done for his glory.
