Subject: ALERT Alumni Update | August 2022

August 18, 2022

Dear Alumni,

It had been a busy summer here at the ALERT Academy, with the Battalion and our summer Quest Program running simultaneously. 20 men returned for 2nd phase, 4 men for the Leadership & Communications training, and 10 ALERT guys were here working with the 58 students we had for the Quest program.

This next Basic Training is shaping up nicely with over 40 applications for Unit 67, and more showing up daily. Unit 67 starts in just three weeks, and as a reminder, if a potential recruit puts your name on his application for Basic and ends up attending, we will send you a $100 check. ALERT alumni have always been our best recruiters, so if you know guys who would benefit from ALERT, send them our way. If you need any materials or information to help in those efforts, reach out to Lt. Winkler (swinkler@alertacademy.com) and he can get you what you need.

Scott Shelter (Unit 28) has once again been busy out in the PNW putting together a small ALERT reunion a few weekends ago. These are a great way to reconnect with old friends and make new ones as we find ways to bond over our shared experience as ALERT men.

If you are interested in putting together a local alumni reunion in your area, please let us know and we can help get the word out! It's a great way to reconnect with guys you know and meet new guys from around the country.

Don’t forget that we have Unit 67’s Endurance Hike coming up this fall and the 2023 ALERT reunion next January. All alumni are invited to both; please contact Lt. Winkler for more details. The dates for both are below.

Unit 67’s Endurance Hike: October 17-19, 2022

ALERT Reunion 2023: January 27-29, 2023

Finally, I want to say thank you again to all the alumni I have been in contact with who have been willing to talk about their experiences here—both the good and the bad—so that we can continue to build a healthy organization and learn from our past. If you would like to talk with me about your time at ALERT, please reach out and we can schedule a call. Also, don't forget to stop by and say hello if you're passing through the area. Alumni and their families get three nights of free room and board on us through the calendar year.

Have a great rest of your summer!

ALERT Commanding Officer
