Dear Hot Metal Friends,

We are in the middle of a communications audit, the goal of which is to reach others in the region who could be well-served on their faith journey by our community. I am assisting Pastor Sally Jo and Council in developing a strategic communications plan to more effectively share the spirit, energy, and potential of HMBFC. You can help us tremendously by completing an upcoming brief survey of your thoughts about and experiences with HMBFC.

Expect to see the survey in your inbox in a few days. This is an anonymous survey process; you will not be identified in any manner (unless you choose to do so). If you have any questions or concerns about this survey, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at djmartin@cmu.edu. I am happy to explain the process in greater detail if that would be helpful.

🚀 BACK TO SCHOOL BLAST OFF + BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS

JADA House International & Hazelwood Cafe are getting students ready to launch into the new school year with joy, resources, and community! Hot Metal has contributed to the supplies being given away and will be on site blessing backpacks for the year to come. 🍲 VOLUNTEER AT HAZELWOOD FOOD PANTRY

First Saturdays, Next is August 2

For years, Fishes & Loaves Cooperative Ministries has been providing free groceries to Hazelwood neighbors in the very space we worship in, and Hot Metallers are invited to lend a helping hand once a month. No RSVP is needed, just arrive ready to assist neighbors with love and dignity.

💔 PRAYER VIGIL AT ICE OFFICE

Fridays, 9/19, 10/33, 11/14, 12/12: 8-10 AM

When there is suffering or injustice, disciples of Jesus respond. Following the lead of our friends at Casa San Jose, we join them and other communities of faith in a committed prayer witness in front of the ICE Building on the Southside every Friday. The dates above are when Hot Metal will be the host organization for the prayer vigil. You are invited to bring respectful signs welcoming immigrants and asylum seekers.
