Intro

After pondering the Scripture passage for this week's worship gathering, the staff of Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community put together this spiritual formation kit for groups and individuals to use.

We hope that it will encourage transformation as you encounter God's voice in fresh ways through the Bible; connection as you talk and pray together; and interaction as the sermons become less of a Sunday morning monologue and more of a week-long community conversation.

Reflection Questions
Guide discussion with these questions or ask your own.
Compare Matthew 18:21-22 with Luke 17:3-4. What is the significance of the numbers? Is Jesus one-upping himself in Matthew's gospel?

What kind of person is the king? To what extent does he represent your image of what God is like?

This parable and the Parable of the Lost Sheep bookend Jesus' teaching on conflict in the church (Matthew 18:15-20). What's the relationship between confrontation, forgiveness, reconciliation and the health of the church community?

How does the community of "fellow-slaves" react when it finds out that the forgiven slave has thrown another slave in jail? Why?

How do you feel about the ending of the story?

In Romans 14:2, Paul suggests that people who eat only vegetables are weak. Discuss why he's wrong.
