Subject: Join us for Christmas Eve tomorrow at 7pm

Dear Church,

During this Advent season, we have engaged with the question "How Does a Weary World Rejoice?" And while we are indeed weary, we have also heard about the importance of acknowledging our weariness, finding joy in connection, and allowing ourselves to be amazed. Engaging in these activities will not make our weariness disappear; rather, they enable us to pay attention to all the ways that God is moving in us and around us in the midst of our weariness. That simple message - God is with us - is repeated over and over throughout scripture, and the truth of it reverberates throughout the generations. God is with us - right here, right now. Not to save us from our struggles, but rather to remind us that we are not alone in them. As Thomas Merton says: "God will never leave us to face our perils alone."

This Sunday, we will gather together at 7:00 PM for a candlelight service that reminds us to make room, and in so doing, we make room not only for amazement, joy, and connection, but we also make room for our own weariness. Let it be.

On Behalf of Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community, we are so grateful for your presence and wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

January Leadership Updates

A look ahead: In January, council and finance will provide updates about Hot Metal's financial situation, our search for a new pastor, and transitional points of interest. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

A reminder about staff

This is a friendly reminder that our wonderful church staff will be off between Christmas and New Year's for a much-deserved break! They will return after the New Year and be able to answer any questions at that time.

December 31 Lunch

Our very own Joni and Luke Watson have generously volunteered to provide lunch after the Lesson and Carols service on 12/31. Luke and Joni, thank you so much for your willingness to serve! If you are able to assist Luke and Joni, please let them know.

Calling Committee Members

Council is issuing a formal call for all volunteers to join our various committees! If you are interested in joining, or would like to learn more about, the personnel, compassion, worship, or finance teams, please let us know! Nominations are currently being accepted-you may either nominate yourself or someone you think may be good for the role. This is a great opportunity to share your voice and talents with our community. Thank you!

A Note About Pastoral Care

If you are in need of Pastoral Care, the wonderful Rev. Elizabeth Ross has graciously agreed to be available to our community during this time. Her email is: elizabethmiriammichael@gmail.com

A note about the Children's Ministry

Our community has purchased a wonderful children's curriculum from A Sanctified Art to be used during this Advent season. BUT-we are in need of volunteers to help facilitate! We will also need volunteers over the next few months. If you, or someone you know, are interested in supervising our kiddos during worship, please let us know. Thank you!

A note about the Nursery

A friendly reminder that the nursery space is intended to be available only for the little ones (those 5 years old and under). Our little ones have specific needs and we kindly ask everyone -including older children, teenagers, adults, and guests -to respect this space so that we can meet those needs. Thank you! If there are any questions about this, please contact a member of council.
