SO... IS THIS A CHURCH THING? Yes and no. This community is built by Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community, a church, but it is not a faith-focused program and does not impose religious belief or practice. It is open to families of all religions and no religion.
But let's get real, so many of the harms experienced by the LGBTQIA+ community have been caused or reinforced by the Church. So we think the responsibility for repair also rests with the Church. Hot Metal has an established history of inclusive practice and is already shaped by gender-diverse families within our shared life. This is just who we are.
DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER? lol No. Genderful Families is it's own thing. It's in the Hot Metal family, but if this is the closest you get, you're still exactly where you need to be. And if you are a member, you can extend the invitation to friends, classmates, and neighbors.
