HMBFC Has Joined the Black Presbyterian Caucus!
Our Council has enrolled HMBFC in the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus as an expression of our commitment to justice and as a continuation of our participation in anti-racism work in Pittsburgh Presbytery.

The goals of the NBPC are:
  • To promote church growth and the strengthening of Black Presbyterian congregations in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.);
  • To emphasize the spiritual growth of individual members;
  • To continually focus on concerns stemming from Black religious and cultural traditions as well as political and economic issues;
  • To speak and act on those issues that adversely affect the lives of People of African descent;
  • To achieve full participation of its members in the total Church and society; and
  • To combat racism and injustice.

Throughout April we are collecting jeans, shorts, shoes, and boots for men and women. Also, many of the 100+ folks who sheltered indoors for the winter are now looking for tents. If you'd like to donate one, here's an affordable one that's the right size.  Contact dave@hotmetalbridge.com

Kintsugi: A Worship Experience for Better Mental Health // SUN APR 9 @ 6PM // main hall // Real talk about mental health and mental illness is still often taboo in our culture, especially in churches. But the Kintsugi service provides a unique space each month for people to connect their spiritual and mental health in the context of worship. Followed by a peer support group at 7pm.

What the Health!?? // MON APR 17 @ 7PM // main hall // Jesus said to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. In this monthly workshop we are exploring ways to integrate physical wellness with mental and spiritual wellness. This month we are continuing to learn about essential oils. Fixing PA's Gerrymandering Crisis // THUR APR 20 @ 7PM // main hall //  Fair Districts PA speaker Timothy Verstynen will outline the problems related to PA's redistricting process; demonstrate how that process undermines democracy, and then discuss a proposed solution to the problem. FDPA is a nonpartisan coalition of citizens and organizations that seeks to reform PA's redistricting rules by taking the process out of the hands of party leaders and putting that process into the hands of a citizens commission that would be impartial, transparent and accountable.
