Dear Hot Metal Bridge Community,

It is with a heavy heart we inform you of the death of Karl Anker, husband of Hot Metal member, Joanna Lowe. Karl was killed in a car accident last Sunday, September 26th. He is survived by Joanna, three kids, and a wide range of family and friends. Karl served as an Army Ranger and medic. His official obituary will be available through John J. Gmiter Funeral Home soon.

We wanted to let you know that the funeral service for Karl will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 5 at 4pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Millvale. We are thankful for our friends and colleagues in the Gospel at Christ for offering their bigger space to accommodate all those who wish to mourn Karl and support Joanna and others in their grief.

In lieu of flowers, Joanna asks that you make donations to the Wounded Warrior project in Karl's name. Joanna appreciates all who have reached out to her in love, and cannot answer individually at this time, but deeply feels each action of care.

We mourn all loss of life, and are particularly hit hard when the loss is this sudden and tragic. And we place our hope in a God of resurrection, who makes beautiful things even out of dust, and yearn for the day when all will be reunited around God's never-ending banquet table.
