A message from Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community Interim Pastor, Sally Jo:
COMMUNITY IS MUTUAL GIVING AND RECEIVING
The truth is that we need each other. Not one of us can do this on our own. That realization is crucial for a successful team, a healthy congregation, and a strong free breakfast outreach. 🤲🥞🤲
The FREE BREAKFAST offered before each monthly food pantry has become the joy of my ministry at Hot Metal Bridge. That is because of the mutual community of support, sharing stories, laughter, grace, and helping each other be fed and nourished.
At the July food pantry, one of the participants told me she would make a homemade peach cobbler to share. I responded enthusiastically…. I mean, come on, it’s homemade peach cobbler!
At last Saturday’s free breakfast, she greeted me with, “I’ll be back. I’ve got to go back and get the peach cobbler out of the oven.” 🤤
Five minutes later, she returned with serving cups, spoons, and hot-from-the-oven, homemade peach cobbler. Her instructions to me were to serve it up! Having a sample for myself, I did exactly as instructed, yet realized the free breakfast is what makes for a strong community, as with all ministry works, when all have opportunities to both give and to receive. |
