Yep, equalization is mystifying because the art of EQing is not just 1 technique.
It can be demystified - and it’s what will get your mix to sound like it belongs next to major label releases.
It's multiple approaches, like giving mix elements more definition, and getting them to fit together in the mix, and emphasizing the pulse of the song, and getting rid of frequency muddiness, and adding the same sparkle that hit releases have.
I spent over 3 decades of my career learning what I wrote in that last sentence! Ya might want to read that again.
There are a lot of techniques that fall under this familiar task we call EQ, but it’s essential that you know them if you want pro-sounding mixes that get people to take your music seriously.
There were enough questions about this that I decided that my next workshop was going to be all about EQ.
