Sometimes my feelings get hurt. I know I shouldn’t let it get to me and let it roll off my back, but that’s not always possible.
Recently I’ve posted a few times on blogs and social about AI music so that I could share some of my experiences with it, and the pushback has been totally surprising. Like. . .
“I thought you were with us, but if you’re for AI, then you’re against us!”
“AI is evil, and so are you for using it.”
“Bobby, no. . .Say you didn’t drink the kool aid.”
That’s just a taste of the nicer ones.
Musicians automatically connect AI to some of the fake Drake, John Lennon, Ariana Grande (among others) crappy imitation tracks.
But there’s so much more to it that’s being totally overlooked.
You might not realize that you’re already using AI every day to open your phone (facial recognition), get directions (Waze), do online shopping ("people also bought"), use digital assistants (Siri and Alexa), and so much more. That’s not evil is it?
AI can help you find some new chords and lyrics when you’re stuck; effortlessly set up your compression, EQ and reverb plugins; make a music video with incredible ease; find the best audience for your music, and so much more.
That’s what AI is to me, helping you create and produce your music faster and easier than before, not trying to create fake songs that get all the sensationalist attention.
In a couple of weeks I’m going to present a workshop on AI designed to help you create, produce and market your music faster and easier than you’ve ever done before.
