Most people focus their bass EQ below 100Hz, which is exactly the range that small speakers can't reproduce. 

The fix is to shift that emphasis higher into the range that actually carries through on earbuds, phones, and laptop speakers. 

Once you know where that is, the bass that disappears on small speakers becomes the bass that hits on all of them.
