Subject: Get your first 1,000 fans

Hi Friend,

Want to see how to get your first 1,000 fans? (or next 1,000?)

Here's a special invitation to an exclusive online event just for you.

Over the next week or so, I’m going to send you some emails and host a live event, all to show you how to promote your music and answer questions about promoting your music and growing your fanbase. Sound good?

Let’s get started! Here are some questions you may have...

Q: How can I get more exposure for my music? I can’t get past my friends-of-friends circle.

A: Getting complete strangers to like your music is a tough jump to make. A lot of musicians look online to social media to grow their fanbase. And while social media is a great tool, if the only people commenting on your posts are your mom and your best friends, your chance of reaching new people is slim.

You need to get out and get your music in front of new people in places they will listen.

Try busking on the street or some other public place if you don’t yet have the local fanbase to book gigs. Or tap into your network and get an opening spot for another band at a small venue.

And while you’re there, hand out download cards with your website and social media URLs clearly written so you can turn that impression into a fan you can reach again.

Q: I’m an introvert. How can I promote my music?

A: You’d be surprised by just how many extremely successful indie musicians are introverted.

A lot of introverts get uncomfortable with blatant self-promotion tactics and networking, and feel awkward directly pitching their music or asking fans to buy their album. Sound familiar?

Instead of trying to push your music at people and be louder than all the other indie musicians vying for attention, switch gears. Soften your approach and base your promotion around pulling people in by providing interest and value.

Instead of an uncomfortable and hyped-up album release countdown, use interesting content to get the attention of your fans. In the weeks leading up to the album release share behind-the-scenes videos and photos, stories about the songs, and valuable downloads like tabs or phone wallpapers with the album art.

Make sure you tune in tomorrow for more music promotion answers!

Bobby

P.S. Here’s the pre-registration link to the live event on promoting your music that’s going on next Monday. This is your chance to register early.
