September classes are as follows:

American Heart Association Friends & Family CPR AED Course
Saturday, Sept. 12, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the life-saving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child automated external defibrillator use, infant CPR with breaths and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA’s research-proven, practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not require a certification card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools, community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life. This course is NOT suitable for community professions that require a CPR certification card. Preregistration and payment are required.

American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course

This course covers basic first aid, CPR techniques, maneuvers for choking victims and how to use an automated external Defibrillator. Instruction provided for adult, child and infant techniques. Course completion includes a certification card valid for two years from the American Heart Association. Ideal attendees include day care workers, construction workers, camp counselors and students. Preregistration and payment are required.

American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Renewal Course

This is a recertification class for BLS healthcare providers; participants must have a current BLS certification to take this abridged recertification course. Course completion results in a certification card from the American Heart Association, valid for two years. The course is designed for doctors, nurses, EMTs, physical therapists, dentists, lifeguards and other healthcare professionals. For ages 16 to adult. Preregistration and payment are required.

This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an automated external defibrillator and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Course completion results in a certification card from the American Heart Association valid for two years. This course is designed for doctors, nurses, EMTs, physical therapists, dentists, lifeguards and other healthcare professionals. For ages 16 to adult. Text included. Preregistration and payment are required.

American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course

This course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency respiratory and cardiac arrest management. This course is for healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. You must be certified as a BLS healthcare provider to take this course. Course completion results in a two-year PALS certification from the American Heart Association. Preregistration and payment are required.

Pet First Aid, CPR and Disaster Preparedness Course
Sunday, Sept. 27, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel

This course covers basic first aid, CPR and disaster preparedness for dogs and cats. Students practice the hands-on skills of CPR on lifelike furry pet mannequins. Course completion results in a two-year certification from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute. For ages 14 to adult. Preregistration and payment are required.
