Hi Friend,

I noticed recently that the quality vitamin C supplements I regularly buy were out of stock via Amazon.com. The other supplements I regularly buy and use were in stock, but not vitamin C. I suspect it's due to people panicking about the COVID-19 coronavirus and trying to strengthen their immune systems with vitamin C.

If you've encountered this sort of difficulty obtaining nutritional or herbal supplements, let me give you a helpful tip. There's another  online merchant of supplements that I've had good experience with. It's A1Supplements.com. They stock quality supplements and have always provided reliable, prompt service in my experience. And unlike Amazon, they have vitamin C products in stock. As of today they have my favorite vitamin C supplement I use regularly in stock. It's called NOW C-1000 With Rose Hips. You can search for it on their website and order it easily.

I suggest taking it with some food. And as with any vitamin C supplement, you need to increase your dosage gradually over days or weeks. If you notice gas or loose stools, you have taken more than your body could absorb so just back off the dosage a bit and build up gradually. And remember, your body uses up vitamin C rapidly. So it's more effective to take doses of it spread throughout the day rather than only one dose per day.

And while we're on the topic of the COVID-19 coronavirus, I'd like to provide some reassuring facts as an antidote to the hysteria and misinformation I've been seeing and hearing about it.

Remember that the news outlets don't generally put things in perspective. They highlight the worst events and anecdotes to upset you and hook your attention. And social media is even less reliable as a source of information or guidance.

Here are some facts that can get lost amid the recent hysteria:
  • COVID-19 is a type of coronavirus
  • Coronaviruses cannot infect you via food or beverages
  • The actual mortality rate of COVID-19 is very low and many cases of it are mild.  Consider that as of today the confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections in the state of Massachusetts are about 500 and there's been only one death. So at worst, the mortality rate is a fraction of 1%. That's no worse than the ordinary, seasonal flu that sickens and kills people every year.
  • You cannot contract an infection of COVID-19 merely by being around sick people, touching them, or breathing the same air
  • To contract an infection of COVID-19 you must introduce the virus into your respiratory tract by breathing in the cough or sneeze of an infected person or transferring the virus from your contaminated hand to your nose
  • Washing your hands regularly with soap and water and refraining from touching your face with bare hands are some of the most effective steps to reduce your risk of COVID-19 infection (Don't simply rely on a mask or gloves. They're not foolproof protection.)
  • Panic and anxiety are forms of stress that depress your immune system and make you susceptible to infections, so relax and remember to enjoy life every day
  • You can nourish your immune system by eating a nutritious, balanced diet of organic foods. Including some fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet is particularly beneficial.
  • Nutritional and herbal supplements that have actually been shown to support the immune system and reduce infections are vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, echinacea, and garlic. Beware of supplements claiming to specifically combat or treat COVID-19, as such claims are unproven and illegal.
Relax, enjoy life every day, take good care of yourself, and be a light of calm and happiness to lead others out of panic and ignorance.

I hope these tips and information have been helpful and/or reassuring.

Best wishes for your health and happiness,
Mike

I appreciate the trust you have placed in me by opting into my email list. To inform and serve you well I sometimes provide links to products or resources that I expect would serve you well.
