  HOW WAS THE L.A. SEMINAR?

"...you guys are off the charts scary good, and are also just great people all around."
--David H., Los Angeles

==================

"I just participated in the seminar in LA, and wanted to give out my

feedback to everyone.

First a little background on me so you can

understand some context to my review. I first learned about GC in
early '09 through Gerald Celente, a well known trend forecaster, and
student of GC. He mentioned on a radio show that he "trained in close
quarters combat with John Perkins". My interest was piqued because I
was looking for a practical, but deadly (if need be), self-defense
system for the average man. I had been reading into the Bruce Lee
books trying to boil down his system, which I had a hard time boiling
down to applicability in my life. See, I have little to no martial
arts experience, and work as a librarian. I am not a police officer or
a soldier. So even though violence is not an every day reality for me,
I am still interested in self-defense, just with different motives.
Plus I was somewhat ashamed of my complete lack of preparation if
anything ever did happen. I thought what a shame if I needed to
protect myself and my family, and I simply failed because I didn't do
anything to prepare. So, by mid 09 I had the book.

I spent the next
year trying to wrap my head around the content
because of my own
learning curve, and also the radical nature of the content.
I was not
doing any of the drills and was close to a point of letting the thing
collect dust. By fall 10, I decided to look into it again and chanced
upon Ari saying he would be out my way. I got to train with him two
times, and that was exactly what I needed. Not only did it start to
make sense, but I saw in person what the drills etc were actually
achieving. I then committed to doing the drills every day, got the
three video companion series, and signed up for the seminar.

Now for the seminar.

First of all the location was great, The people

there were friendly, and apparently even a few took part in the
seminar. There was loads of room for everyone to see and practice. I
walked into there on Saturday and saw a huge dojo teeming with GC
masters. Not only that, apparently some students for NY came out, so
the place was packed with expertise and experience. I knew it was
going to be good.

The content fit their standard format, but of course

it was filled out with new stories and insights. Plus there were so
many frank moments in the training, side conversations etc., that
essentially it was two five-hour private training sessions. I got to
train with everyone one-on-one for some time, and they all had
valuable feedback that was easy to understand and work on. They all
were very friendly and helpful, and delivered criticism in a positive
way (i.e., conducive to learning and improving). John really has
surrounded himself with a great group of people, from what I can see,
and in no time there was a clear family atmosphere. The whole time was
even made easier by the banter between the GC teachers and the
hyperbolic humor of Lt. Col. Al.

To boil down what I got out of it. There is a certain thought when
spending $350-400 to say, will it be worth it? I have to say it was.
After I got the videos, the book became clearer to me, and it was
clearer what what being taught. (Nothing wrong with the book, just the
visuals helped me.)

The seminar sent me into hyperdrive, so to speak.

Not that I am something special, but I just know now that I am
committed to this. So the money was well spent. I came out Sunday
evening better prepared, and better equipped to adapt and survive a
violent encounter. I came out with a better understanding of the
principles of GC. I came out with a better appreciation of the art,
and a stronger desire to want to scale the heights of it.

So hopefully this wasn't too long winded or boring for some of you.
Hopefully it doesn't sound "honeymoonish" either, like perhaps many
people sound when they come to something new. So overall it was an
excellent seminar and I encourage any onlookers to get to a nearby
training or seminar to experience it yourself. Also, I encourage all
of us who made contacts to get together and practice while we await
the next GC teacher to come out our way. Thanks to all the teachers
for your great insights and attitudes. Till next time..."

THE MCDONOUGH FAMILY FIGHTS OFF SERIAL KILLER--AND LIVES TO TELL

  "HUNTING HUMANS"
   CBS 48 HOURS MYSTERY
   Watch video promo of show

DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

The killer came in through an open door and attacked the daughter in her own bed.
She screamed and kicked, alerting her parents who were in the next room.
The father leaped onto the killer's back and applied a strangle hold while the mother
grabbed the knife with her bare hands. The killer, who was fat and out of shape, tired quickly
while the mother called 911. The cops came incredibly fast and arrested the psychopath
who had been on a killing spree...until now. The McDonough family was incredibly brave.

John Perkins Commentary:
"The short story is this: The McDonough family was incredibly lucky. The doors were unlocked; they had no security systems, weapons or a plan to use them. Serial killers are amoral psychopaths and a home invasion is essentially a take-no-prisoners war zone. If you want to live you need to develop a war-like strategy and mindset. Not fighting back is not an option. Anything less and you can die horribly."

•       Get a dog suitable for home protection (or at least has a loud bark).
•       Keep shrubbery low; thorny bushes under windows are best.
•       Install motion sensor lighting.
•       Install a good alarm system with multiple redundancies (motion and glass break sensors,
panic alarm pendant, wireless window switches and barrier bars). Local companies with
a long history in an area and many positive recommendations are often more reliable than large national companies.

•       Make sure you can clearly see anyone on your doorstep from inside the house via a peep sight, camera system, etc.
•       Check and install police-recommended door and window locks.
•       Do NOT open your door to ANYONE you don’t know or aren’t expecting. Criminals often use ruses
to gain entry, posing as repairmen, mail carriers, etc. They may even feign an emergency or use women
and children to get you to open the door. Don’t do it just call 911 to summon help.

•       Make your bedroom your hardened “fallback room” with a secure door and lock. Door jam bars are best.
•       If home invaders have made it past your motion lights, locks, alarm, dog and any other measures,
you have a deadly serious problem.

•       Inside the bedroom, keep a charged cell phone so that you can bypass cut phone lines to call 911,
and a pump-action 20- or 12-gauge shotgun in case the intruders get through the door. No sane person
will keep coming after hearing the shotgun being racked. If they do breach the bedroom door, don’t hesitate
to empty the shotgun into them. In case you don’t have time to get everyone into the bedroom during a
lighting-fast home invasion, it is best to carry a large-capacity handgun (with which you are licensed and trained)
on your person while you are at home. Train combat shooting under chaotic conditions.

•      Get enhanced, reality-based close combat training so that you can fight hand-to-hand if and when guns jam.
•       Practice a home evacuation plan that involves your entire family and includes “all clear” signals.
If your perimeter is breached, everybody should try to get out through the nearest window or door
        and get a neighbor’s attention.

•       Never enter your home if you have reason to suspect there’s been a break-in (e.g. damaged door
or window frame, key won’t fit in lock). Leave the area and call 911 to have the police check it out."
