AVAILABLE MARCH 2010:
The GUIDED CHAOS COMBATIVES eBOOK

There are other World War II Combatives systems out there.  Some are authentic and some are watered-down MacDojo nonsense. The best of these derive from
the simple, effective and easy-to-learn techniques created for U.S. soldiers in World War II and used in jungle warfare in thousands of documented military and police conflicts. Practical and efficient, these methods were engineered to be taught to our troops in 8 hours prior to shipping out for combat.*

John Perkins has taken these methods and supercharged them with Guided Chaos' internal principles to give you even MORE power, balance and adaptability.

The GUIDED CHAOS COMBATIVES eBOOK will provide battle-proven techniques, strikes, drills, illustrations, photos and step-step training regimens to give you the fastest, most condensed and easy-to-learn survival system available anywhere. The GUIDED CHAOS COMBATIVES eBOOK: the first part of the GUIDED CHAOS SYSTEM:

 GUIDED CHAOS COMBATIVES

GUIDED CHAOS GROUNDFIGHTING

GUIDED CHAOS WEAPONS

GUIDED CHAOS: THE WHOLE SYSTEM

*The original Close Quarters Combat developed by Colonel Rex Applegate, William Donovan and members of the OSS was lethal all by itself (it was devised because of a perceived inadequacy in our troops' Hand to Hand training as compared to that of Japanese Soldiers schooled in Judo and Karate. This led to a training overhaul by our own military in the late 1930's that was used in countless close engagements against Japanese troops in World War II.)

YOUR QUESTIONS:

QUESTION CONCERNING CONTACT FLOW:

In the past I have had great difficulty finding, and
keeping partners for contact flow. I have recently met a young man who all
he wants to do is contact flow, and the drills. He seems to be more into
Guided Chaos than I am. He is constantly asking me questions, and wants to
make sure that he is doing contact flow correctly.

When we do contact flow at slow speed I am always
telling him not to grab my hands and then push
them out of the way, because in a fight when someone is coming at you
swinging his fists as fast as he can grabbing and pushing his hands is not
practical. Instead I tell him to yield, pocket and step out of the way of
my hands, while at the same time trying to launch some strikes of his own.
I tell him to do the washing drills, so he can get a feel for what I am
talking about. Is there anything else I should tell him to help him
understand this often misunderstood drill?

ANSWER:
Thanks for your question. The advice you gave him is exactly what I would have told him.
You’re really starting to understand the more salient points of the art which is good
because this is a sign of your own growth.  Your training partner has to understand that
in a real fight, not a sparring match but a “real fight”, people are trying to kill you.
They are not playing and when he entertains the notion of thinking he can "play fight"
with people, he is programming his brain for a reality of fighting that does not exist.
Grand Master Perkins often has to correct this error in his students.

Unfortunately, as human beings, more often than not we only learn things the hard way.
If he continues, this is what you may need to do, but only if you are confident in your

ability not to hurt him: demonstrate why it is impractical and why he must learn to yield
and get off line while striking. I would (as demonstrated in our book) perform the
Close Combat Universal Entry (CCUE) on him at ¾ speed so that he can feel why
attempting to grab and push under such conditions is an exercise in futility.

The act of grabbing not only slows you down but requires a level of speed,
timing and strength such that if all three do not come together at the right moment
it could prove fatal in a real life and death blood bath.  There is a reason why more often
than not it takes several police officers to corral one unruly person: it’s much harder to
control a person than it is to strike them for all of the reasons mentioned above.

After demonstrating this to him I would explain that because it really is that easy
to enter in and strike someone who's willing to grapple or tie up with you that it is
all the more important for him to develop the ability to get off line and yield to avoid
getting his head cut off.

P.S. Before doing the CCUE I advise that your first practice it yourself at slow speeds
then gradually build up to full speed.  As highlighted in Attack Proof, pay close attention
to your center of gravity when dropping in and the position of your hands and arms.

Also:
1-It's near impossible to grab someone's hands at full speed.
2-Contact Flow is an "altered reality" where the top speed is whatever
you both mutually agree upon. Failing to do this is a critical common error
of beginning GC students. If it's slow, you still have to act like you're
going full speed and grabs won't work. You go slowly so as to not overload
your nervous system and experiment with real combative dynamics.
3-Grabbing (if you do manage it) is utterly useless against a stronger opponent.
So why waste your time by training this way?
4-Grabbing also fixates you and over-commits your balance, looseness, and sensitivity,
which are the only attributes you've got left if your opponent is bigger and stronger.
It also paralyzes your reactive ability.
5-Try this also: move your hands at top speed and simply poke your opponent repeatedly
at random targets on his trunk (stay away from the eyes) like a sewing machine.
Have him try to grab your hands. He can't. Now imagine how much harder it would be if you
were actually gouging and pounding him with full power strikes.
