Subject: The “D”-Word

A lot of you are offended by this word

The “D”-word.

Business owners both love and hate it.

The word is like a powerful spell to those who have mastered it.

It gives them time and money (and who doesn’t want more of that?)

For those who have not… it’s almost like a curse.

It’s elusive, frustrating, and feels like an impossibility.

Of course, I am talking about…

DELEGATION.

This is where a lot of music school owners get tripped up.

Studio owners tend to think delegation means getting someone else to do things:

  • Answer the phone

  • Send emails

  • Handle the billing

  • Follow up with leads

  • Deal with scheduling

It helps… but it doesn’t get you out of the day-to-day operation of your school.

Because the moment something falls outside the normal process, the question comes right back to you.

You know the drill:

  • parent wants an exception

  • teacher is upset

  • someone wants a refund

  • something goes wrong with the plumbing

  • your admin encounters a situation they haven’t seen before

So you can reach this strange place where you’ve technically delegated a LOT… but your brain is still required to run the business.

That’s because there’s a big difference between delegating tasks and delegating ownership.

And I think that distinction explains why some school owners build teams that give them enormous amounts of freedom… while others build bigger and bigger teams and somehow end up with MORE people who need their attention.

That’s the kind of delegation Nate and I want to talk about.

Next Wednesday, we’re doing a free workshop called:

Stop Being the Answer: How to Delegate Decisions… Not Just Tasks

And this will NOT be an hour of us telling you that you “need to delegate more.”

You already know that.

Instead, we’re going to work through an actual process you can use to take something that currently depends on YOU and begin transferring real ownership to somebody else.

We’ll show you how to:

  • Figure out what you should and should NOT delegate

  • Give someone the clarity, resources and authority they need to actually own an outcome

  • Train people to make increasingly difficult decisions without running back to you

  • Create a simple 30-day plan for getting one responsibility permanently off your plate

And - if you are a smaller studio and think this doesn’t apply to you… think again! We’re going to show delegation tactics and ideas for all stages of growth! (small studio up to massive multi-site music school)

The goal is very practical:

By the end of the workshop, you’ll identify ONE recurring responsibility or decision you should stop owning, decide who could own it instead, and begin building the plan to transfer it.

Because real delegation isn’t:

“Please handle this.”

It’s getting to the point where a problem happens…

Your team handles it…

And you might not even know it happened.

If you own a music school and YOU are still the answer to far too many questions, I think you should come.

We’re doing it live next Wednesday.

Come with one thing you desperately want off your plate.

We’ll help you start getting rid of it.

Very best,

Daniel
