Subject: Secret Sale & July 4th tips!

Secret Sale!
Happy Independence Day!

As usual, the year is flying by - It’s already time for the 4th of July madness! Dogs all over the country are challenged by the noise of this holiday, but Portland seems to have a rather extraordinary affinity for illegal fireworks which creates a serious problem for many pet owners.
We’re here to help! Please read this blog post for important safety tips you might not have considered and recommendations for products that can really help.

Though everyone should read it (did you know there’s a product some vets recommend for anxiety that actually can make dogs more sensitive to noise? Did you know that there's also a common calming herb for pets that works like a charm for most, but sometimes has the opposite effect?) but if you’ve gotten a new pet this year, it’s very important that you’re home for their first July 4th and that you make it a positive event. If you have pets that are stressed by the noise, don't forget that we might be facing a long weekend full of fireworks before the 4th on Tuesday - you might consider stocking up on calming treats and Thundershirts. Sarah J (one of our managers) has a very frightened dog every 4th of July (that's him in the photo), and she’s come up with a great cocktail for him: CBD treats, a calming tincture called Tranquility Blend, and a Thundershirt. It’s still not a “fun” time, but it’s the best he’s done so far.
We have a good selection of different calming treats and tinctures. We’ve had great results with each of them, but remember that every pet responds differently to different formulas – now’s the time to try them to see how they affect your pets, so you have time to return one and try another if it didn’t help during these pesky “warm-up” days where people start setting fireworks off in the evenings before the 4th.

Luckily, we’ve got a Secret Sale planned to help you save some money if you need these sorts of tools and perhaps some advice. On Saturday June 24th from 10-6 save 15% on all regularly priced products that aren’t pet food! Leashes, collars, treats, toys, chews, beds, supplements, etc are all on sale! Check out the sale table too - there are always some good stuff there with deep discounts. (There are still Swamp Coolers on sale for super hot days!) Remember - Secret Sales are just for you, our loyal newsletter readers. It’s a Secret! In order to get your discount, you’ll have to let the person at the counter know that you got our newsletter, even if it's just a knowing wink and a nod! You are welcome to tell your friends that if they put their e-mail on our newsletter sign-up sheet when they come, they can take advantage of the sale too. Note: It might be awfully hot for dogs this weekend!

Amazing Things You’re Not Buying:
Nordic Naturals

We are so proud to carry Nordic Naturals Fish Oils. Many of you may actually be taking these yourself, as they are primarily a producer of human supplements, but we’re really happy and lucky that they also manufacture a line for pets. Don’t get me wrong, we research, like, and trust all of the companies we carry, but this company has created a new definition of fish oil quality as it relates to purity, freshness, taste, dosage, and sustainability. Nordic Naturals’ leadership has also shifted the model of how to conduct business truthfully and authentically. For example, they surpass all International pharmaceutical standards, and they can prove it with extensive 3rd party testing. They incorporate ethical and socially responsible practices with regard to environmental consciousness, corporate transparency, philanthropic partnerships, and education. It’s a super amazing company, and we hope you’ll take a look at them the next time you’re looking for a fish oil supplement. What? You don’t take fish oil? Your pets don’t take fish oil? You might consider it - the dosages might differ, but the benefits outlined on the Nordic Naturals website apply to your pets as well. Check it out

Bottles is under new ownership! We're very excited about this, as the new owner is one of our regular customers. He owns a catering company that specializes in amazing barbecue, and he's also planning on making the patio dog friendly with its own dog menu! I don't know if you know, but Bottles has one of the best patios in town - it goes way back with a second area behind the building for live music that's equipped with an outdoor bar. They'll be continuing the great tradition of a pop-up vegan night every Wednesday - it's become a very popular event and we've heard the food is fabulous. It won't close for a transition, but small changes will be made a little at a time as the new owners settle in. I don't think the new menu is in place we'll keep you posted.
