Subject: Ready for the 4th?

Secret Sale on Saturday the 29th!

For those of you who are new to the newsletter, this means that you may take 15% off of everything that is not food.

DON'T FORGET:

IT'S A SECRET JUST FOR OUR NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS

This means you have to let your cashier know you're in on the secret, or you might not get your discount. Just give them a little nod or a wink to let them know you're in on it!

Of course you can certainly bring friends who aren't on our newsletter, and if they sign up for the newsletter, they can enjoy the discount as well.

We consider "food" to be complete diets (Like a bag of kibble or freeze dried meals, as we already keep our margins as slim as possible for your foods). The discount can be used for treats, toys, supplements, leashes, bones and other chewies, etc.  We have these sales to say thank you to our community for your support, and for choosing a locally owned, independent store over the big box stores, and those that copy this model while still being a big chain store.

We hope it's a way for you to save some money on the products you love, and to help you be able to stock up on things you need like litter or fish oils, or maybe a pretty new collar!

NOW IS THE TIME

TO GET READY FOR THE

 4TH of July!

Holiday Hours: 10am to 4pm

The 4th of July is a tough time for many pets, so come in now to check out our calming aids. It's important to test them out ahead of time to make sure they respond to them well, and to get an idea of what sort of dosage that will help them on the big day (and often for several days before or after the 4th).

Here's a link with more important safety tips! Talk to us when you're in. We can help you choose the best thing for your pet!

A message from Christine!

Hello friends!

I'd like to start this message with virtual hugs to our customers. I’m sure you've noticed or heard, that I'm not often in the store due to health issues. I used to be able to see you more regularly, and I miss you and your pets very much!  I'm writing this to let you know I'm doing ok, with a few bumps along the way.

The wonderful thing is that the team we have is so knowledgeable and the store is running smoothly (they don’t need me any more)!  I know our customers are getting solid help with a number of common health and behavioral issues from our knowledgeable, capable employees.  Several staff members have a deep passion for and solid understanding of nutrition and supplements.  When really tricky health issues arise, they can refer you to our favorite holistic veterinarians, like Dr. Keith Weingardt, DVM.

I’m amazed and grateful whenever I stop by the store for a visit, and run into customers that have been with us since 2004!  I have such fond memories of the Fremont Fest parade and costume contest.  Many of you came up with genius costume ideas that I still talk about to this day!  We are so thankful to those of you who have raised multiple generations of pets with us, and if you are new, we look forward to getting to know you and your pets.

Although I miss you all very much, I’m very lucky to be able to confidently step back from running the store to focus on my health.  Again, thank you so much for your friendship and support throughout the years!

All the best,

Christine

Beware of Foxtails!

This is the time of year that we start hearing nasty stories of pets having trouble with foxtails! It’s a problem each spring and summer and can potentially cause serious harm to your pet. To read more, please check out this link, or go to our blog to read about what to look for, and get a few home remedies for if the foxtail is visible. Please go to an emergency clinic (like Blue Pearl in Hollywood) or your vet if you see your pet shaking their head often, rubbing their eyes/nose, chewing their paws or vulva, or otherwise acting like there is an irritant in their skin. There could be a foxtail embedded in there! Foxtails can migrate and cause very serious health problems.

Caution! Hot Pavement!

Please remember, if you bring your dogs outdoors during a hot summer day, use caution as the day gets hotter and the pavement heats up much more than the air. When the temps get up high, a sidewalk might be more than 100 degrees (WOW), but the darker pavement can be more like 140 degrees! (OUCH!)
