How About A Secret Sale?

Happy Holidays Everyone! We’re continuing our current curbside-only policy until we see the case numbers getting down to more reasonable levels. Health officials are reporting numbers rising rapidly right now and are expecting a significant surge in the number of cases in the next 2-6 weeks due to Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday activities. So, in order to protect our staff (which contains 3 immune compromised individuals), we are sticking with this system for now. It’s definitely harder on our end, but we also know it’s a bit more stressful on your end as well. It also comes at a very hard time for retailers, who rely on some fun Christmas shopping to pay the bills!

We want to thank all of you that have been so flexible with this new (and not permanent!) arrangement. As many of you know, we’re happy to bring an armload of items to the front door for you to look at, such as an assortment of our favorite training treats, or a pile of “toys with a good squeak”, etc. We are also able to take your dog into the store (if they’re comfortable with this) and fit them in the harness of your choice, or bring raincoats out to you for them to try on on the sidewalk, etc. We even take photos for people of their options when they email us asking for what we have. We’ve created a handful of PDF “catalogs” for certain categories of products, with photos, descriptions and pricing for Training Treat pouches, Christmas items, puzzles & slow feeders, car seat covers, and nighttime visibility products. Request these by email (they’re hard to update, so some items may occasionally be out of stock). We’re doing nutrition/health/behavioral consultations on the sidewalk, or by email or by phone. We’re here to help!  

It is very busy for us every day with all of these extra tasks, the detective work of figuring out which product a person is describing (luckily many of the answers are in your customer file), and running around assembling orders and answering emails and calls. To this end I want to urge you to PLEASE use our email address (info@greendogpetsupply.com) to make your orders if you can as it helps to keep our ever-ringing phone lines open. It’s actually a faster process for you, as we can figure out exactly which things you’re asking for by finding them in your history, make sure they’re actually available and not in someone else’s held receipt as well, assemble the order, enter your items into frequent buyer programs, and then just call you for a quick payment. This not only keeps our phone lines clear, it greatly lessens your need to call multiple times to get through, and makes the time you have to be on the phone with us much shorter.

We’re checking our email frequently, so you don’t have to worry. If you ever think, “Ooh - I need to get some food tomorrow", just email us right then and when we come in in the morning, we can fill those orders when it’s nice and quiet, and call you when we’re ready to take payment. We’re so grateful for your support!!

SECRET SALE!!

 For those of you who have joined this newsletter list during this crazy Covid year, you might not know that a normally fun part of the newsletters are our Secret Sales. These are periodic sales that are exclusively for our newsletter list and not advertised to the public. We miss those fun, busy secret sale days, with newsletter subscribers whispering “Secret Sale” at the register, or giving that knowing wink and a nod as they stock up on stuff they know they’ll use and saving a bunch of money. Of course, crowds are not a thing right now, though we are awfully busy. We were a little worried about getting slammed if we offered a discount, but we figure that if we offer you one opportunity that you can use anytime this month, that it might help us spread the work out.

We actually have TWO choices for you to participate (you may pick only one)  Here’s how it will work:

Option #1 (email):
Anytime this month, you can take 20% off of any regularly priced products that aren’t pet food! Pet food is defined as what you might put in a bowl at meal time (kibble, frozen raw food, freeze dried or dehydrated meals). ***This means treats, chews, toys, leashes, winter coats, puzzles, supplements (joint care, fish oil, CBDs, etc) cat trees, etc are all on sale***

These are the rules: 
- Your orders will have to be made by email.
- The subject line should say “Secret Sale”.
- Please use descriptive words when describing products that you don’t know the name of. If you’ve bought it before we can almost surely find it in your purchasing history, but helping us out is appreciated.Instead of "and some treats" say something like, "some soft high value meaty treats that would hold together in a training pouch".
- You must give us up to a few days to get your order together and call you for payment (it may not take that long, but we want to be sure we do it right and fit it in amongst our regular curbside orders.)
You may order your food at the same time, even if it's not on sale.
-You must realize that we may also have to special order things that you ask for, especially if you’re ordering multiples.

Option #2 (in person shopping!):
We thought this could be a fun option. We’re calling it "15 for 15!" In this option, you may book a fifteen minute appointment to shop inside the store and take 15% off of any regularly priced items including food! Remember that old show supermarket sweep? Go straight for the hams!  
These are the rules:
 - We will be taking appointments starting on the 19th of Dec through the 23rd.
- You must call soon to book an appointment.
- You must complete your shopping in 15 minutes, not including checkout. (make a list!)

Here’s what we hope will be a handy tool for shopping: It’s a photo album of each section of our sales floor! Click on this link to access the album. Click on the first photo and use your computer’s right arrow key to scroll through them. There’s also a right arrow to the right of the photo that should appear when you hover your cursor over it (but I’ve found it easier to use the right and left arrows on my computer keyboard.) You should be able to zoom in on them to see more detail. This will allow you to “stroll” through the store to remind yourself of your favorite supplement names, and to see your choices of collars, toys, chews, etc.  
Do we wish we could have everything online to make it easier for you? Desperately we do! We would want to find a program that would mesh with our point of sale system, so that inventory is updated when you buy something, which we haven’t found. There’s not even time for us to shop for such a program, let alone for how much work inputting each of our 5500+ items into a new system with photos and descriptions, etc and getting it all onto our website. For right now, this is as high tech as we can make it. Are you the magic fairy that knows lots about how this is done? We’d love to hear from you…

THIS SUPER FUNNY TOY KEEPS THEM MOVING!

Pet Safe’s “Ricochet” dog toy has two sturdy rubber balls. As your dog plays with one of the interactive paired toys, a fun and exciting squeak sound is heard from the other toy. If it were me, at the end of the game I'd trade the balls for a favorite squeaky toy that they can really chomp down on, like the Mighty Squeaks below.

TUFFY'S MIGHTY SQUEAKS!

Tuffy's toys have made some hilarious and durable new toys! These squeaking balls (2 sizes, 4" & 6") and VERY squeaky rings (10" and they squeak no matter where you squeeze them) have no stuffing at all. The fleece they cover the toy with is a non woven fleece that is not as easily punctured by a dog’s teeth. This protects the plush from being ripped or torn easily, then inside there’s a plastic squeaking core, covered with luggage grade material sewn together and reinforced with webbing and loads of seams. If your dog gets the fleece off, they say it's like a whole new toy to play with. Remember no toy is indestructible. Please be a responsible parent and stay close when your dog is playing with any dog toys, and if pieces come apart, or the dog gets down to the plastic core, please dispose of them. TUFFY'S CORN AND HOTDOGS!

These hilarious toys for small or medium dogs feel so tough! No soft toy is indestructible, but Tuffies does their best to make tough toys that stand up to abuse: Each toy is made with 4 layers. 2 layers are made of 600 D industrial grade luggage material, 1 layer of plastic coating, and the other layer is made of soft fleece on the outside. All of these layers are sewn together to make one super strong layer of material. Each toy is sewn together with 2 layers of cross stitching and then 2 layers of linear stitching. After the toy is sewn together an additional piece of black trim is added to cover the four rows of stitching. This extra piece of black trim is sewn with 3 linear stitches to give the product a total of 7 seams! (Some of your dogs will of course get through them eventually.)These toys are machine washable (air dry) and float. The hotdog comes out of its bun, and the corn can be shucked as well. We try to find the most durable toys we can, as the less flimsy it is, the less likely it is to wind up in a landfill!

PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELVES AND YOUR DOGS AT NIGHT!

I’m amazed every single night when I drive home from work in the dark, how many people are out, walking their dark colored dog (and sometimes a baby in a dark stroller too) in dark clothing on dark streets that don’t even have sidewalks or very many streetlights, and are not wearing a single reflective item or light! I shudder to think of any of you or your dogs who are pulling ahead of you becoming injured or killed because someone with old-lady eyes like me couldn’t see you step out in front of my car. It would really ruin your day, and mine… We of course have solutions for this, my favorite being leashes that light up or reflect light, as they highlight both the human and the dog. The photo here is showing the reflective power of Cycle Dog’s Max Reflective leashes. They’re made in Portland from recycled bike inner tubes, which give you great gripping power and are waterproof, so they never stink. We also have amazing battery powered (rechargeable) light-up leashes that can be switched from solid to flashing light the whole length of the leash (available in blue or green). I’m sure that Foot Traffic also has a variety of options for runners like arm bands, etc. that you could use while walking dogs.
