Please Join Us!

It's almost here! We're nervous about whether it will be too hot for the Fest, but we're crossing our fingers that it will be a little cooler by Saturday. In past years, even on the hottest Fest, the mornings were cool enough for dogs to march in the parade at that time of day, so we're crossing our fingers. We still plan on gathering between 9:30 and 10am in the Beaumont Middle School parking lot. Please join us there, and feel free to leave the parade early if your pup looks hot. We've never had to cancel the dog parade before, but if you're worried, just call the store and we'll let you know.

Don't miss our booths!
Every year we donate a booth (or two) in front of our store to rescue organizations. This year, one booth will be occupied by Underdog Railroad Rescue, and the other will be for The Pixie Project.

As an added bonus, there will be a unique opportunity to speak to Doug Duncan, co-owner and head trainer at Doggy Business, will have a table in the Underdog Railroad Rescue booth so you can "Ask the Trainer"!
If you can't come by, he'll also be giving a lecture on fear and aggression on Saturday, August 19. The lecture - “Growls, Grimaces, and Groans” - will be presented at 2pm at the Lucky Labrador Taproom in North Portland. There's a suggested donation of $5. Doug is an amazing and immensely qualified trainer and we at Green Dog think these are a unique opportunities to learn from the best!

Please Remember Your Dogs' Feet!

As the day progresses, the temperature of the road surface gets hotter and hotter. With more than 125 vendors out on the pavement, it's easy to get distracted and not think about how hot that blacktop is getting. Last year the pavement got to 145 degrees, the temperature that can cause permanent damage to their pads. Make a note to occasionally feel the pavement with your hand.
Moosh!

We've just brought in a wonderful new locally made dog shampoo, ideal for allergies and itchy skin. It's antibacterial, anti fungal, and contains:

Vetiver is a natural-born antiseptic, with the fresh scent of the great outdoors.
Nutmeg, Aloe and Shea Butter soothe the skin.
Rosemary is great for circulation.
Like all of our shampoos, Moosh is biodegradable. It has no sulfates, no preservatives, no harsh chemicals, is all natural. hypoallergenic, and easy-to rinse! Ask for a sample at Fremont Fest!
Fabulous New Goat Cheese Treats are in the Freezer!

Just in time for the Fest! These amazing new treats are going over like gangbusters, and it's no surprise - most dogs LOVE cheese!  Many of you know that the cultured goat's milk in the Answer's freezer is one of our very favorite and best selling products in the store, as it has helped so many pets with soothing allergy symptoms such as itchy skin, giving probiotic support, helping to retain muscle mass during difficult times, adding valuable nutrients to processed dry foods, and just being generally delicious! So we're so excited to being in their new goat cheese treats! These cheesy cubes are made from the goat's milk you love, with over a billion live probiotics, with added Turmeric, Spirulina, or Ginger! Fun to feed frozen on a hot day, they also thaw quickly if you like. They are really tasty - I'm trying to keep from snacking on them at the counter so dogs that visit can have a chance to try them. Kitties often like little bits of cheese too!

Don't Forget!

Store-wide Sale! From 10-5 all regularly priced merchandise that isn't pet food will be 15% off! If you buys something big like a bed, we'll hold it for you until Sunday when the road is open again. If you march in the parade, your discount goes up to 20%!

Prizes! There will be lots of fun prizes for marching in the parade! All dogs that march will get a free giant organic cookie and a free sample of our new Doggie Gelato from Swell! There will also be great gift bags for Best Costumes, Best Dog/Human coordinated costume, Most Enthusiastic Marcher, Biggest Doggy Smile and more! Pip's Original Doughnuts has also generously donated 6 dozen free donuts for kids with the best decorated bikes or homemade floats!
