Life's Greatest Adventure! March 16th 2016 Hi Friend, How we experience our own energy mandala is fundamental to our understanding, not only of astrology, but also of “Life, The Universe and Everything!”  It is a simple truth that our journey of spiritual awakening happens through our own individual experience. That seems like stating the obvious, but if we really, really understood that, we wouldn’t keep chasing outside of ourselves for the ‘answers’. In science there is almost fear of subjective experience as if somehow our own perspective obscures the truth. This is based on the myth that there is some pure objective truth “out there” that will be somehow “polluted” by our own experiences and opinions. Yet in all the great Mystical traditions the reverse is practised: in other words it is acknowledged that we can only arrive at deep spiritual truth through our own experience and the insights that arise from that experience. Since the end of World War II those of us living in the West have had more freedom to follow our own individual path than previous generations, and many of us are currently undergoing transformational experiences based on the transits of the slow moving planets Neptune (currently in Pisces), Pluto (currently in Capricorn) and Uranus (currently in Aries). Many of us have greater spiritual awareness than ever before as a result of the opportunities for yoga, meditation, and diverse spiritual teachings that have become increasingly available since the 1960’s. As the great planets of transformation make contact with significant points and placements in our natal charts, we are better placed (through opportunity, greater awareness and consciousness) than any other generation in times gone by, to be able to observe and notice the patterns that play out in our lives, and the effects on our individual psyche. The key is observation: self-observation. As you cultivate the skill of self-observation you develop more and more discernment. You become an exquisite observer of self. You notice distinctions in subtle energies within your own consciousness. As a result, you become the best expert on you! You are then in a position to notice how your pranic energy flows and fluctuates throughout your day (the Sun); how you experience your emotional world in relation to others (the Moon); how your speech and thought processes work (Mercury); your aesthetic sense - what you appreciate and how you resonate to beauty and harmony (Venus) and what motivates you into action (Mars). Astrologically the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars are considered to be the ‘personal planets’ because their energies affect us most directly - especially the Sun and Moon. You can learn a great deal about yourself by learning the qualities of each planet and the sign they are placed in within your own chart. Your knowledge will be even deeper if you practice self-observation and watch these energies at play in your daily life. (Maybe even keep a journal to record your observations). Jupiter and Saturn are considered to be the ‘social’ planets. Although they do influence us directly, their influence is also thought to have a wider, more social impact. The slow-moving planets - Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are called the transpersonal planets. Because they are slower moving they stay in one sign for years at a time and have more of a generational influence. According to Esoteric Astrology the influence of the transpersonal planets is too subtle for the majority of people to detect at their level of consciousness… but as we awaken spiritually, and are able to discern subtler and subtler energies, it is perfectly possible that we can also detect the influence of these planets in our lives… and when we do, we are ripe for powerful transformation because the influence of these planets have the power to really catapult us to higher states of consciousness. Your own experience is vital. It is through your own experience that you are becoming aware of subtler and subtler vibrations of energy - and that awareness is not only expanding your own consciousness, but is contributing to the collective flowering of human consciousness.
