Subject: The Changing Season

Life's Greatest Adventure!
September 11th 2013
Hi Friend,

This week has really felt like the beginning of autumn here in the UK. During my early morning walk, even though the leaves are still green on the trees, there has been a chill in the air, a damp early morning mist and that autumn smell in the air!  Virgo Season is well underway and on Life Coaching Magazine (LCM) we continue the series exploring the fear-based reactions and love-based expressions of the Zodiac signs with: "Virgo Rising: The Virgo Soul".

Of course you don't need to have any planets in Virgo to appreciate the 'feel' of this transitional time of year. Virgo is a mutable sign, and mutable signs are all about change. This time of year in the northern hemisphere we see summer roll over into autumn and experience the effects of the seasonal change. I love the idea that if we really pay attention, Mother Nature herself can teach us astrology! All we need to do is to pay attention to what is going on around us, as the year slowly unfolds. We can all relate to the fiery cardinal creative energy of Aries 'bursting forth' in the spring for example.

Virgo Season is usually busy. In times gone by (and for many farmers still today) this time of year would be associated with gathering the harvest. Many "Virgo" qualities are needed to skilfully  harvest your crop.  You want the 'perfect' time: you don't want to pick your crop too soon when it is not ripe enough, but you don't want to leave it too long either, when it could be spoiled by animals, insects or bad weather. So you exercise sound judgement.

Then you need practical, patient, application and consistent hard work, at the perfect time, to bring your crop home. Once your crop is harvested you need to store it well to preserve it as long as possible. Let's use apples as an example. We've all heard the expression, "one bad apple spoils the whole barrel". This stems from the realistic observation that if you allow a bad apple to get into your store, your whole crop can turn bad relatively quickly.

So a keen eye and more hands-on, practical, patient application is needed, together with exquisite discernment, to scrutinize every harvested apple and make a judgement: which ones will go into storage and which ones are to be thrown out or used for jam!

Of course we need to be physically fit and healthy to carry out our harvesting work! Also with the changing season many people develop colds or flu-like symptoms. If you regularly practice Yoga, Tai-Chi, Qi-Gong or any similar practice in which you observe your energy flow, you may have noticed that these seasonal 'symptoms' will arise and pass quite quickly and often no 'treatment' is needed other than a slight adjustment in how you flow your energy.

Our bodies, along with the whole of nature, are adjusting to the changing season. No accident then, that Virgo is also associated with health, healing, and 'somatic awareness' (the felt sense in the body). So if we look around at harvest-time, we see many keywords for Virgo: work, practical application, pragmatism, seeking perfection, busy-ness, judgement, precision, discernment, scrutiny, nature, health and healing, body awareness, and more!

Take a look around you, and see how many Virgo keywords are showing up in your life at this time.
See you next time, and in the meantime...
happy exploring!

Best Wishes,

Ruth
