Hi Friend,

Often around the time of a Full Moon we notice our dreams. Either someone who doesn’t usually dream much will have a significant dream, or someone who dreams often will have a clearer dream, or a more meaningful dream. Whatever the case it seems that around the time of the Full Moon, our dreams can get our attention.
In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition dreams are divided into three categories:

• karmic dreams
• clear light dreams
• lucid dreams

Karmic dreams are ‘ordinary’ dreams. The kind that western psychologists and dream researchers speak of when they say our mind is processing the events of the day, or of our everyday lives. We might dream about our family, or a problem, what we saw on TV, a celebrity, or memories and people from our past. These are all ‘karmic’ because they pertain to our ‘karma’, in other words they arise out of our present condition and circumstances, and the conditioning of our everyday mind. These dreams can be very ‘foggy’ - we may not remember much about them yet we can be left with a ‘hangover’ where we either feel dull when we awaken, or we are experience an emotional ‘charge’ that begins in the dream and remains with us when we awake.

Clear light dreams can be prophetic in nature. As the name suggests they are characterized by a quality of light and clarity that supersedes our everyday existence. In these dreams we may experience visions, premonitions, meet our teachers and guides, and receive teaching and instruction. When we awake we invariably feel at peace, joyful, loving and we usually have a very clear sense that we just experienced something special.

Lucid dreaming is where we are aware within the dream state, that we are dreaming. In the Tibetan tradition of dream yoga lucid dreaming is cultivated so that one’s spiritual practice can continue through the night as the dream state is used to further one’s spiritual development.

“Dreams are a reservoir of knowledge and experience, yet they are often overlooked as a vehicle for exploring reality”
- Tarthang Tulku Yoga Practice

As you know if you’ve been on my Facebook page, at the weekend we just experienced a rare supermoon eclipse in Aries. Aries is associated with intuition and clarity, so I’m wondering how many of you experienced vivid dreams? Aside from the karmic dreams that we usually experience, you may have had a clear light dream, or a lucid dream.

For example, I often dream about fish (Must be my Pisces midheaven conjunct Chiron in Pisces and my 12th house planets)! It’s not exactly a recurring dream as such, because the situation is always slightly different, but the theme is usually the same. The fish are somehow at risk and need to be saved, or taken care of. In one example I was in a garden center and the fish tanks were dirty, full of algae and the water levels were low. I was angry in my dream and was trying to find out who was in charge that was responsible for the condition of these fish! In my waking day I am concerned about the environment, and it does bother me that so many animals and fish die from pollution in their thousands on a daily basis. So this is an example of a common ‘karmic’ dream where something that is at the back of our mind comes to the fore and, as we sleep, our everyday mind tries to make sense of a ‘problem’.

Now to the supermoon dream. Yes, you probably already guessed it involves fish! But it was a clear light dream. I was dreaming about something else (which I’ve now forgotten because by contrast that dream was ‘dull’) when a tiny fish dropped right on my head! Who knows from where, but it was a dream so you don’t question these things - of course a tiny fish would drop on your head. It was flipping and flopping all over the floor and I quickly ran to scoop it up to get it into some water so it wouldn’t die.

Not having been prepared for fish falling on my head, the nearest thing to run to was the bathroom sink:
put the plug in, fill it with water, and gently introduce the fish (which had become still and lifeless by now) to the water. Slowly, in the water, it began to ‘come back to life’ and swim about. For me it was not so much about ‘saving’ the fish, and more about a deeper message of healing and regeneration under the ‘right conditions’.

Astrologically, Pluto is about regeneration, and at the moment I have Pluto conjunct my descendant (7th house cusp - partnerships) - which is the Aries-Libra (self-others) axis. So there is a ‘regeneration’ of sorts happening, in my partnerships and relationships, to include my relationship with the earth, her creatures and the whole of existence. If you saw my Facebook post on the supermoon, you’ll know that is exactly what it was about - since the supermoon was in Aries (existence) and the Sun was in Libra (right relationship).

So did YOU have any significant dream messages over the weekend during the energy of the supermoon? AND did it relate in some way to a significant event (or events) happening in your astrology?  If so I’d love to hear about them! I know that it’s easier to reply to this email but if you would please hop over to Facebook and share them on the supermoon post, so we will have them all in one place and we can get a overall picture of everyone’s experiences!

That's all for now! See you next week and, in the meantime...  happy exploring (and watch out for falling fish)!

Best Wishes,

Ruth
