Subject: Countdown to GIS in Doha: Explore the schedule for the post-conference workshop and secure your spot today!

Here's another reason to join GIS in Doha! Explore the post-conference workshop schedule and secure your spot today!

Join the Department of Public Health at Qatar University & GIS December 5-6 in Doha!

Join GIS and Qatar University for an extra day of learning and collaboration at the post-conference implementation science workshop being held in Doha on December 6th. This workshop aims to build foundational understanding and hands-on capacity in applying implementation science in research and practice. Health professionals, PhD students, and researchers are especially encouraged to register and attend this event.

Attendees can expect to leave the workshop being able to:

1. Define core concepts of implementation research (fidelity, adaptation, sustainability).

2. Differentiate between research and practice components of implementation science.

3. Select and apply frameworks (RE-AIM, EPIS, CFIR, AIF) appropriately to different stages of project design and evaluation.

4. Identify and analyze barriers and facilitators using practical tools (e.g., 5 Whys, quality improvement).

5. Develop a basic implementation plan linking theory to practice through a realistic scenario.

Agenda Overview:

  1. Welcoming Plenary by GIS President, Dr. Niveen Abu-Rmeileh

  2. Lecture and Discussion: Foundations of Implementation Research and Frameworks led by Dr. Ramzi Salloum

  3. Lecture and Group Exercise: Application of Frameworks in Implementation Research led by Dr. Farhana Haque

  4. Lecture and Group Exercise: Implementation Practice in Real-World Settings led by Dr. Joumana Haidar

  5. Group Work and Presentations: Integrated Exercise — Linking Research and Practice

About the Conference

Historically, public health interventions were implemented without rigorous empirical evaluation. However, in recent decades, research has demonstrated the importance of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) in addressing public health challenges. While many interventions have been developed, their successful and sustainable implementation remains a challenge.

Today, policymakers, community health providers, and researchers recognize that evidence-based interventions must be paired with effective implementation strategies to maximize impact. Training, adaptation, and continuous evaluation are essential for ensuring these interventions are integrated into health systems successfully.

To support this mission, GIS and the department of public health at Qatar University is committed to bridging the gap between research and practice by bringing together:

  • Implementation science researchers developing and evaluating intervention strategies

  • Public health professionals and policymakers integrating these interventions into practice

  • Community organizations and providers applying evidence-based solutions to real-world settings

We are pleased to announce the keynote speakers for Driving Change: Regional Conference on Health and Emerging Fields in Implementation Science!
