Subject: Should You Start Eating Apricot Kernels?

Why Eat Apricot Kernels?

Apricot kernels are simply the edible seeds of apricots. They contain a rare substance called amygdalin, otherwise known as vitamin B17. Laetrile is another common name. Amygdalin is naturally found in seeds or pits of apricots, apples, cherries, peaches, and plums. Apricot seeds (kernels) are the most common source of amygdalin.

Amygdalin was discovered in 1952 by Ernest T Krebs as an alternative cancer therapy. His son, Ernest T Krebs, Jr., had success in the 1970’s in the San Francisco Bay Area, claiming a 100% remission in his clinic using B17 and pancreatic enzymes. His clinic was shut down by the government.

One issue that is commonly brought up regarding B17 is that it contains cyanide. Yes, apricot kernels contain trace amounts of cyanide. Just like tomatoes contain trace amounts of arsenic. Apricot kernels will not cause cyanide poisoning. Any cyanide found in an apricot kernel will be broken down and excreted out of your system.

It is possible for apricot kernels to cause mild upset stomachs. If this happens, reduce the amount by half and slowly build back up. It is a good idea to have a little food in the stomach just before you consume apricot seeds.

One study found that amygdalin “significantly inhibited” cervical cancer cells. Another study found that amygdalin destroyed prostate cancer cells, concluding that “amygdalin may offer a valuable option for the treatment of prostate cancers.” Yet another study suggested that amygdalin has an “anticancer effect” by inhibiting genes related to colon cancer cells.

If you decide to undergo chemotherapy or radiation it is smart to consume apricot kernels which can target cancer cells. Cancer cells start dying out very soon after taking apricot kernels. In many cases complete tumor regression is achieved in about three weeks, depending upon what type of cancer a person has.

Apricot kernels taste like a bitter almond. The recommended dosage to consume is ten to twelve kernels daily. Start with one or two and increase the dosage as desired. It is entirely safe to consume twenty to forty kernels or more a day.

If the taste is not suitable, consider taking apricot seeds as a supplement. We carry Apricot Power brand of apricot seeds, 100 capsules in 100mg capsules. Organic apricot kernels are available in an 8oz bag. Please ask for assistance in our Natural Living department as the products are in a secure area. The recommended dosage is 100mg to 200mg daily.
