Driving a car just got more expensive. On Tuesday, November 1st, the tax on fuel in NJ went up by $.23 per gallon!
Road TripThis serves as a good reminder for me that our spirits are the engine for our life. We are all on a long road trip, and we need to fuel up. Constantly! We cannot expect to get anywhere, when we haven’t bought the gas.
Out of Gas Unfortunately, we cannot pass the responsibility to buy the fuel onto someone else. Not our pastor, Not our spouse, Not even God. This is OUR car. It is hard to imagine a more preventable calamity than being stuck on the side of the road, out of gas! Yet many of us have found ourselves in this predicament. We suddenly realize that we have nothing left in the tank, right when we need it most!
How to fuel up Day in and day out of studying, listening, obeying, worshiping and just hanging out with Daddy God (even for just a few minutes to start). Unfortunately, there is no short cut. With social media, Netflix, iPhones and the many distractions at our fingertips, the cost of fuel just seems to keep going up, like NJ taxes.
Check Your Fuel Gauge We sing songs like “Set us on fire, Lord” but we have made no provision to keep it burning. The fire is free, but the fuel is costly. How we manage our fuel level is the indicator of how much value we have for the fire of God.
Maybe it’s time for a pit stop!
