EEOC Plan is ho-hum. That's ok.

There’s no drama to the recently released EEOC 2018 - 22 Strategic Enforcement Plan (SEP), and Attorney Robin Shea thinks that’s good news.

In a new blog article, Shea points out that the EEOC has been operating with only three (of five) commissioners since last summer, with Senate confirmations still pending. The tenuous state of the nominations may have influenced the noncommittal tone of the SEP, but the details are good for employers.

Highlights from the plan:
  • The EEOC will continue to focus on charges where systemic discrimination appears to exist.
  • The EEOC will pay more attention to discrimination in federal government employment.
  • The agency will focus on getting its own house in order, by assessing its “own employee engagement and inclusiveness.”
Shea looks for a more moderate agenda for the EEOC with the possibility of less focus on private sector employers. Read the entire article in the GEA blog.

Peter Sherman: Using Data to Make Better Decisions

Data doesn’t necessarily lead to good decisions. Employees may make poor decisions based on information that was expensive to collect and research. They may ignore the data completely and make decisions based on intuition, or only look at the data without reference to common sense.

Peter Sherman’s presentation at the upcoming GEA Spring Conference will explore decision-making styles and research on Big Data. He’ll share a simple but powerful decision support system that can help you and your team with decision making.

Sherman is the Managing Partner of Riverwood Associates and a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He has more than 25 years experience leading process improvement programs in manufacturing, business services, and healthcare.

Early-bird registration discounts for the GEA Spring Conference are available through February 28. Learn more about this year’s speakers and topics on the GEA website.
