Yes, it's true - there are data scientists working on artificial intelligence solutions to reduce food waste in potato processing.

On Tuesday, ID Capital CEO Isabelle Decitre spoke about this collision of Deep Tech and the AgriFood industry, in an event co-organized by SGInnovate and ID Capital.During the panel discussion Roshith Rajan, Director of Corporate Responsibility in Asia Pacific at Sodexo mentioned the increasing pressure Big Ag and Big Food are facing from customers on traceability and the RoI of implementing early stage solutions versus the RoI of not implementing them.
Kwan Chungmin, Partner at Yusarn Audrey law firm mentioned that while a patent search for AI in general returns you 1000s of search results, add on to the search “AI + Food” and you get only a few dozens. Is it a white space for our entrepreneurs?

Chuah Jun Wei, Regional Manager at Alibaba Cloud also shared on their recent collaboration with ID Capital and Bühler group on the first A.I. Challenge on Food Safety. His gentle advice to business owners? Start collecting data sooner rather than later. Two AI start-ups - Adatos.AI and Intello Labs were also represented by Drew Perez (Managing Director) and Tanmay Bhargava (head of APAC) respectively and shared their difficulties in navigating the sector but the abundance of opportunities that it holds.

Over a hundred people had a chance to get a taste of how this topic will be addressed at the forthcoming Future Food Asia 2019 Conference.

On the afternoon of Monday the 3rd, Bühler and Alibaba Cloud will join to present the result of this first A.I. challenge. Food safety will be at center stage, and delegates will be walked through the entire journey from the problem statement to the algorithmic solutions proposed by contenders. But hey, this is food, not math we will be talking about!

With our ever growing line-up of speakers and less than TWO months to go, save your spot at Future Food Asia 2019.
