Can I Get Gardening?

Meet a Few of our Gardeners (and Gardens)
as FRESH Re-Opens
its 3 Community Gardens
Between our three community gardens, FRESH New London oversees nearly 100 beds for community members to use for raising vegetables, herbs and flowers.

As you all know, just as we were getting ready to open up the sites for the growing season, the coronavirus pandemic shut down everything.

The gardens are now all re-opened and we want to share some pictures from each growing space: because they are beautiful and full of food and opportunities for healthful outdoor activity!

As Julie says: "Gardening is healing and human interaction.... even if we are wearing masks and staying 6 feet apart."
FRESH Updates
We are hard at work, maintaining distance within the staff and masking up when we need to be close to one another.

We do have a youth program, but it is a small group of returning teenagers so that we can be sure that they are maintaining distance and staying safe!

Our 33 family CSA is underway and very successful, and we continue to be grateful to Eric and the students at Conn who are working so hard to grow food for our shareholders!

In addition to the 3 growing spaces profiled above, we are maintaining growing spaces throughout the city, from snack boxes in front of Ledge Light and the Community Meal Center to the terraces at Cottage Street and some of the school gardens.

Life is full. It hasn't rained in nearly two weeks. And we can hold onto Julie's wisdom as a mantra: "Gardening is healing and human interaction.... even if we are wearing masks and staying 6 feet apart."
