FRESH New London
Greetings Friends!

Happy Halloween! We've entered the season of celebrations, and boy do we have lot to celebrate here at FRESH!

The fall youth program is up and running, with 7 young people meeting with our staff twice a week to combat food justice, develop leadership skills, and have fun. The youth are at the core of everything we do here, and we're so pleased to have such a wonderful group!

On October 14 we had the chance to celebrate one of our young people in particular, Roodley Merilo. This talented artist now has a gorgeous installation hung at McDonald Park, free and open to the public. The art opening was full of food, laughter, and community, and was topped by Roodley's incredibly powerful and moving performance of an original poetry piece.

And finally, we're celebrating the addition of a new staff member, India Charles. She first started with FRESH as a youth, and is now going to college and working with us as an adult! She's a perfect fit for our tiny organization, and we love her!

What are you celebrating this season?

Cheers,
Davana

At the Tantaquidgeon Museum,  Mohegan culture keepers taught about the history of this land and its peoples, traditional Mohegan foodways, and what it looks like to decolonize diets and land relations. Crew members were able to make connections between lessons learned at the museum and at programming earlier in the week in order to support their work in actualizing food justice in the city of New London. You can learn more about the museum HERE
